	Hi Mark, I beg to differ in part. While I too hope for a [complete] solution to the ghost problems, I can appreciate the poking around going on here. As some will attest, poking around with things that have little apparent immediate application beyond the obvious is what I do. Some things turn out to be little more than a curiosity, while others later get used as part of some bigger plan. An example from my end includes that my initial playing with Lunatics 2.2 code years ago, with no intention for further development, ended up with the first consistently validating AKv8 Windows ports (with a huge amount of support from others). Another is that the installer development followed playing around with CPU identification code, which already existed, but I needed more specific information for future reasons... and is yet to be included in installer development (but will be one day). I believe it's difficult to predict the possible future usefulness (or lack of) for something, and if only for a learning exercise it is still valuable for that in its own right. There could be a means to induce an aborted by user task status, or possibly other marking, iff we know there were ghosts, what the task was called, and can figure out enough detail to bodgey up the client state. I'm not sure if, or how, such a feat might be practical, but my guess is knowing there are ghosts, and their task details might be a reasonable first step. 	Well, it's nice to know my efforts have paid off. I'm only showing one ghost on my rig. Now, if there were only some way to find the ghosts on my wingmen's machines and get them done. 	What happens when you detach & reattach ? Does seti assign you a new machine number ? I realize you need to clear existing wu or loose them so now with the lack of work would be a good time to do it & loose any Ghosts ____________

	A ghost unit is one that the server tried to send out to you but it never made it to your computer. The server still thinks it got to you so it will show up on your tasks page but not on your BOINC Manager. 	@ msattler You are right - this program can't correct the Ghost situation by itself. But it makes the first step - gives information in easy and fast way. We (and probably the people in the lab) do not know how much server HDD space is consumed for months by this Ghost problem. If the top crunchers like you use this program and report e.g. "I have ~20000 Ghost tasks assigned to my computers = ~40% of the tasks are Ghosts" the staff will be informed of how big is the problem and will be more determined to resolve it shortly. ____________ - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)
