BOINC is free.
Seti@Home is free.

The time you see being count down is the estimated time it takes until the task that your computer is working on is completed and ready to be uploaded & reported.

P.S: The Title bar is usually used for a condensed version of what you want to ask. The Text window (the bigger one) will give you enough space to ask the whole question.

the one result you've returned has overflow problems. these are typically hardware problems. Over clocking and to much heat are usually the culprits

Sometimes this occurs because of the data being crunched. If it happens to ALL of your tasks though it might be a problem.
