The "Friday the 13th" superstition is, some believe, related to religion: Friday was the day Jesus died; there were 13 at the last supper and there are other things both Friday and 13th related that can be tied to Christianity and certain pagan traditions. I don't particularly care about he number (unless I'm in Las Vegas where anything superstitious carries more weight--since Vegas is mostly luck anyway), but I don't want to turn off others who might avoid this thread simply because of its number.

It is always better to make errors on the side of caution.

Do you remember as a tiny child, you knew there were no monsters under the bed.
but if you kept yourself well wrapped up in your blankets, those monsters that were not under the bed could not get them?

In other words.. good call.. why mess with it.

I would prefer to believe that thread 13 was deleted for all the trouble I allegedly caused and was blamed for.

Then you also need to step around 0, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, (13,) 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 30, 40, 42, 50, 60, 65, 70, 80, 90, 99, 100, 101, 2000...

But what about the 13th post in this thread? And regardless of what number you give this thread, the thread is still the 13th thread in the series...

Choosy about numbers?... Can't do arithmetic with that!

The One True Monster
The Flying Spaghetti MONSTER is only called such because of his distinctly non-human form; we were not created in his image, not by a long shot.

“Let us sing praise to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for He is a loving God. Of His might and dominion, there is no compare; of His mercy and deliciousness, there is no equal. No other god can challenge Him; in the taste test, He is invincible. Through His pasta, He has blessed us with everlasting life, and holy is His Name. For He is the Flying Spaghetti Monster: the One, True, and Most High God, creator of man and midgit, giver of pasta, giver of sauce, from age to holy age; not created He was, but ever He lives, through the glory of spaghetti, now and forever. R'Amen.”

What?! No blinding white flash and puff of blue smoke?

SSL not collapsed into a ginormous previously unknown fissure that tore the SSL hill asunder?

s@h and Boinc still running just fine?

So what's in a number?

Until the real thread 14 (Thread 14b?) is started, we could continue this thread 13 with a fortune quote that very appropriately was blazoned upon my login screen this morning:

"Oh, come *on*. Revelation was a mushroom dream that belonged in the
Apocrypha. The New Testament is basically about what happened when God got
religion.

-- (Terry Pratchett, alt.fan.pratchett)"

An opportune act of god?

Discuss?

Happy crunchin',

More usefully for many people, digital prayers:

Digital Prayer Wheels

His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, has said that having the mantra on your computer works the same as a traditional Mani wheel. As the digital image spins around on your hard drive, it sends the peaceful prayer of compassion to all directions and purifies the area.

If you believe, then:

Thubten Zopa Rinpoche has commented that installing a prayer wheel has the capacity to completely transform a place "...peaceful, pleasant, and conducive to the mind." -Prayer wheel

I must have been saved many times over by now by having a few "Om Mani Padme Hum"s whizzing around 14400 times a minute!

Maybe not as far fetched as first assumed...

A prayer to the Flying Spaghetti Monster...

Our Pasta, who art in colander,
Draining be your noodles.
Thy noodle come, thy sauce be yum,
on top some grated parmesan.
Give us this day our garlic bread, and
forgive us our tresspasses as we
forgive those who trample our lawns.
And lead us not into vegetarianism,
but deliver us some pizza,
for thine is the meatball, the noodle,
and the sauce,
forever and ever.
