I just got these messages from SETI:

7/2/2010 4:06:15 PM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for CPU and GPU
7/2/2010 4:06:18 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
7/2/2010 4:06:18 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work sent
7/2/2010 4:06:18 PM SETI@home Message from server: This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress

But if you look at the "Application Details" for the computer involved (4909035), this isn't even close to being true.

Unless I am missing something?

It seems there is a current limit on the servers of 20 tasks.. combined CPU and GPU. Hopefully it is only temporary, but no one has clued us in on it yet.

I am getting the same message even on a new machine that I just deployed today. If this stays the way it is there wont be a way to store enough WU's in cache to process through the outage each week.

That makes no sense, that means Seti doesn't want any large volume crunchers, You'd think. So unless Joe pipes in and confirms this, I'd rather think It's cause of the -12 errors due to the 2.3 dll files that Windows users have used, Supposedly there is a fix(in whole or in part I don't know) over in beta(its not a total guarantee, as It may simply reduce the amount of errors), But the 3.x dll files are still in testing for a few systems like ION I've heard.

See the other threads, the limit of 20 seems pretty well confirmed. If it is not temporary LOTS of people are going to be running on empty.

It might make sense to get some units out to everyone after the long outage.. But once things settle down leaving it there could be catastrophic. Which is why I do not think that is the plan.

Surprised? Matt is on his 3 day vacation now, dunno about the other folks. Matt and Eric are really the only ones who kinda pay attention to the forums. So I doubt we'll here anything before Monday. Sorry.

Yeah, I know. So change it to Tuesday, just in time for the next 3 day outage. :-)

3 _Week_ vacation ...

Speaking of time, I'm actually outta here - going on a three week vacation for various reasons. It'll actually be a "staycation" so I'll be on call to help in case of a crisis...
