Many more thanks to Roelof, and know that SetiSpy is a great idea,
well done.

SetiSpy *IS*, literally, Seti to me. It's face is all I've seen of
Seti for several years now, and has been ever since I heard that the
CLI version was 10% faster, and stumbled across SetiSpy to manage it.

The concise set of windows provide all the data I want to see
about my crunching (and more than the official SW does). I now have
one machine dedicated to BOINC, but the other 3 are still crunching
Classic, and that means they have SetiSpy right there on the desktop.
Some of them will continue until there is no more Classic.

A few weeks ago they all popped up with the Birthday Party screen,
congratulating me for my 5 years on Classic. I had forgotten about
that feature, and it really made my week.

Thank you, Roelof.

Dave

This is very sad.

I hope his wife is doing well. Long goodbyes like that are very hard on the family.

Did he have any children ? How old was he.

Very sorry to hear the sad news about Roelof. Whilst I'm only a part time seti particpitant, I understand that Roelof has devoted a lot of time not only in submitting work units, but also in to his SETIspy program. A big thank you is due to Roelof from all of the seti community.

God speed and God bless.

The world has lost a good Man.

Message 48223 - Posted: 20 Nov 2004, 19:59:14 UTC

I just today thought of Roelof and wondered how and where he was. A little while ago I learned that he's gone to a better and painless place.

It's my experience that some people even when they're dead live on in a lot of other people's mind. Roelof was one of those people. May he live on in the minds and hearts of the SETI community.

All my thoughts to Roelof and his friends and family
Kind regards
Kirsten

Would that you could have stayed longer for your loved ones and for the SETI family who still enjoy your good works.

Listen to all the praise we have for you Roelof. You did good. All heart felt wishes for you. We will miss your good example. Continue giving to those who know best the happiness in your memories.

A bad and sad Moment for all Members of the SETI Community who had the luck to know him, or simply enjoyed the great Software he developed for SETI :(

I'll miss this guy around here.

Indeed, sad to hear about it. :(

Just reading his blog from the beginning up to his last update on the 23rd of October... He was so upbeat and hopeful. Going so well for that long. Then...

RIP friend.
