My Laptop is getting a new Cross Project ID every few days, now I think it's the 4th or 5th one. As you can see in my host list I have ATM 2x Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.73GHz, the one with 237k credits is the "new" one, the other one just has the rosetta credits, where I didn't update yet. Actually the "new" one you can see there with ID 6ac5e11b65aa348c64538eac24da7993 will be gone on the next update, in my client_state.xml it has already ead5d8122b922b57b9e428f83497793c. Seems to happen about every three days: - 6411d74ffc1036e2ca34b47340a29e1c, first seen 2010-06-11 - 6ac5e11b65aa348c64538eac24da7993, first seen 2010-06-14 - ead5d8122b922b57b9e428f83497793c, probably first seen 2010-06-17 The IDs before that I don't have. Any ideas what's going on here? The machine is running 24/7 without any changes to it, even no reboots. In the log I don't see anything about it. However, I think it started after updating BOINC to 6.10.56, not sure. What can I do to stop it? ![]() |

The changing of the CPID is a project thing, not a client thing, and is usually triggered by a change of the email address. It is then propagated between projects by contact of the clients. Did you change anything at one of your accounts recently? Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Did you change anything at one of your accounts recently? Only the "Switch between tasks every" value... The changing of the CPID is a project thing, not a client thing, and is usually triggered by a change of the email address. But would that not change my CPID and not just the CPID of one of my hosts? ![]() |

Oops, now I've been caught by the account CPID versus hosts CPID confusion myself. Normally I tell others about that mistake. :-) Actually, I have no clue what triggers a host CPID change. Gruß, Gundolf |

Can't they be merged? I do not see identical CPUs in your hosts: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=2896451 Â ![]() ![]() Â |

No, they 'report' overlapping periods. Cause when it was a Dual-Boot Host, with LINUX and Windows, both ran BOINC, but time when WU's were UPLoaded, could have been overlapping.....and probably did! Tried different times to Merge them, to no availability. It now looks if I have 3 X9650's, but still have 1. ;-) Show all hosts . Also different names. ![]() |

Oh, yes, you have 3 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU X9650 but 2 of them are from 2008 & 2009 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?sort=rpc_time&rev=0&show_all=1&userid=2896451 Â ![]() ![]() Â |

Another O.S., for a while, period of inactivity, hardware-changes @ host. No, only WinXP running 24/7 without any changes on the machine. Can't they be merged? The S@H host ID is always the same: 3210401. It's the cross project ID (now: ead5d8122b922b57b9e428f83497793c) that changes (look at the BoincStats host list from my first post or click here). ![]() |

So, little update about my Laptop's CPID: - 6411d74ffc1036e2ca34b47340a29e1c, first seen 2010-06-11, is gone on BOINCstats since I updated Rosetta - 6ac5e11b65aa348c64538eac24da7993, first seen 2010-06-14, will be soon gone from BOINCstats as I will use the update button for Rosetta now - ead5d8122b922b57b9e428f83497793c which I had few days in my client_state.xml never made it to own page on BOINCstats, in my SETI account, in the computer list the previous one was used all the time - 6411d74ffc1036e2ca34b47340a29e1c is back, with "first seen 2010-06-22" I hope it's OK if I'm a bit confused now... ![]() |

WTF is going on here? 6411d74ffc1036e2ca34b47340a29e1c (2010-06-25) and 6ac5e11b65aa348c64538eac24da7993 (2010-06-26) are switching now daily, and in client_state.xml I have ead5d8122b922b57b9e428f83497793c as CP host ID, which is reported to the server in sched_request_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml, but never used. Any ideas? ![]() |

WTF is going on here? Check and double check that the details for your account on both (all) projects is identical, and I mean identical. Also read; How to revert to an older HostID number? it might be some help. |

Let's see... As I didn't update Rosetta, 6411d74ffc1036e2ca34b47340a29e1c (2010-06-25) has get the Seti-Credits back when my laptop decided to use this ID again. Well, actually it decided now to use e84bc1d184133dcb22a38f428ae3509c in the client_state.xml, but probably as before this one will not find the way to the internet... in my host list in my user profile is 6ac5e11b65aa348c64538eac24da7993 used again, as you can see. Check and double check that the details for your account on both (all) projects is identical, and I mean identical. I checked that even more than twice, and the problem with switching CPID occurs only on one of my three hosts. Also read; How to revert to an older HostID number? it might be some help. I think there's something wrong with this URL... and I couldn't find a thread with this title with the forum search. ![]() |

Hmm... but that applies to the project specific hostID, not to the cross project hostID. ![]() |

Did I have the Mac "user experience" on a Windows machine? Changelog 6.10.58:
I'm not sure it was on startups, but Microsoft's patch day is comming, so let's see... ![]() |

My Cross-project ID for SETI@home/AstroPulse Beta is not the same as the rest of my projects. How do I get this fixed? I have had this one on the SETI@home beta forms for over 29 days with no answer. I know that the only ones that can help are the people at SETI@home project, but it looks like they don't read the forms on that site I hope to have more luck here. I have had this problem with one of my other project and I had them fix it just by emailing someone but I can't find an email address for SETI@home or SETI@home beta. Can someone help me? |

You should have created a new thread, since your problem (split account CPID) has nothing to do with the topic of this thread (continually changing host CPID). Are you using the same email address at SETI beta as at the other projects? The account CPID is derived from the email address; so, check if you are using identical addresses (including upper/lower case). IIRC, the beta project has been down for an extended period of time. That might add to your problem (and be the reason for the lack of response to your request). During the weekly three-day outage, there's no opportunity for the CPID to align. Gruß, Gundolf |

He did, I moved the thread here. Sorry me bad. ARGH! So, here is what I tried untill now: 1. Reinstalled BOINC 6.10.56. After about of two weeks of "looks OK" the host-CPID was again changing very few days. 2. Installed BOINC 6.10.58. The CPID didn't change for 17 days according to BOINCstats, now the machine has a new one. Any ideas? I didn't change anything on this host, but *I think* the problem started when I installed 6.10.56, at least that would fit to the pattern, that the problem recurs apparently about 2 week after BOINC installation. ![]() |
