Well.....
I have cast the dice.

The kittyman is now scheduled to have his right eye go bionic on June 28th. The schedule on the left eye is not set at this point.

Good luck with the eye, Mark. Don't get too nervous about it, this kind of thing has gone through enormous progress over the last ten years or so. I'm sure it will turn out fine and will be a great improvement and relief once the hurt of the operation is over!

Once again, best of luck!

John.

'Best of Luck'.........

You see.........that is the crux of the matter......

If there is anything to do with 'luck', it is not in my hands.

I am soooooooooooo scared. There is no going back, no 'mulligans'..no 'oopsies', and that is what scares me.

There is no going back on this one.

Scared, most of the time........
That's how it is when you live Life by the drop......

It is something else when it hits..........and it has. Hard.

I have sat in my shoes and sobbed so hard it made my head hurt in the last few weeks.......not knowing where to turn or what to do.........

All I can tell you is Attitude is 1/2 the battle...You really need to pick yourself up and go into this with a more positive attitude, it will really help with the healing...If you really make yourself believe it will be OK, it will be. If you convince yourself it will be bad, it will be!

OK..........I will try to be Forever young.....

May YOU have a firm foundation when the winds of time do shift.

And I know you have had some losses recently.

Believe me, I feel those winds of change....Good luck all will be fine, my Mother is glad she opted for the surgery and I am going to get surgery soon to get rid of these stinking reading glasses I never seem to have when needed. John is right, big advances in last ten years.

I hope it works out all right,.

I still remember my Grandmama crying on her last days because she could not see anymore...............

Got all my fingers crossed for you Mark. Try to listen to the doctor, and do what he/she tells you to do. I know that is hard, especially these days when all the doctors are younger than we are.

True, but if you don't proceed your screwed anyway, so better leaving things to the pro's and hoping they don't have an "oops" moment ;) You'll be just fine Mark. I had a fairly major op on my spine 5 years ago that could have seen me wheel chair bound for the rest of my life if the surgeon had an "oops" moment. Luckily these guys know their stuff.

The eye guy comes very highly recommended........

Dr. Micheal Vrabec.

Check him out if you wish. I did.

I did Mark, He seems OK to me!

http://www.valleyeye.com/

Since my first consultation with him, I have had many contacts (again, no pun) with those who have had him work with their eyes.........

I am at rest with his care at this point............it's just that taking the God given part of my eye out permanently that spooks me.

Please consider stopping drinking excessively until after the surgery. My Uncle (the surgeon) was thrilled to hear you're getting the surgery (and I agree you made the right choice) but expressed further concerns. He recommended full and complete refrain from alcohol as of 2 weeks before the surgery.

I know you made an excellent decision to get things done. You will look back on this in just a very short while, as the best decision you ever made. When my wife had breast cancer, we got through everything by putting it the past one step at a time.

Good for you Mark. Will you be sedated?

Or have you even discussed that?

Seems that mild sedation is the usual route.
Given my proclivity to self-sedation, they may have to go a bit deeper.

I wanna wanna.......

Thank you for the advice Blurf......
It is gonna be hard, but I have already considered it, and that is my choice of action.

I only got 1 shot at this, and it's not gonna be a shot of whiskey.

I know you and I have had it out now and again.......
And I have said it before.

But I DO thank you for your words of advice.

You see, at 53 years of age, I do not think I have seen it all and know it all.....
There are still some things I must learn. And that's why I still come here to
question and ponder. And ask.
If I didn't give a rat's petoot, you would not even see me post.

I NEED my friends here. As a prick once posted.......I am such a needy soul.
And I openly admit that.

And thankfully, you all are such kind friends to acknowledge that.

One prick to another: I hope the surgery is a success. Not because I like you or agree with you on anything.

I believe we have one short existence on this world and we should all have the opportunity to make the best of it. Even those we may think of as needy reactionary right wing jerks. :p

My friend.......you were certainly not the 'prick' I was referring to.........

I consider you a friend.......one who has differing views of life than I......
But a friend.

Please do not consider yourself otherwise.

Fair enough msattler.
As I stated in my response to your PM, I thought I was the target of that jab so I responded in a like manner.
I publically apologize for leaping to a conclusion and for coming back with an overly aggressive response.

Good luck with the surgery.

My enemies know me as something else.

My bad, I guess.
