What did you do between the last successful connect and now?

Windows update (I have to guess here, since your computers are hidden)?
New/updated Firewall/AV?
Proxy?
...

Message 998211 - Posted: 23 May 2010, 13:26:23 UTC - in response to Message 998208.

Really the same (BOINC can't access Internet) or only with upload (Temporarily failed upload of...: system connect)?

If really the same, what about my questions (add BOINC version)?

We need more information than 'Boinc won't access the Internet'. For that we need to see about 10 line of the message log before and after the error message.

We know that the Seti upload servers are not working at the moment because everyone is having that problem. After three failed attempt to upload work to a project, Boinc will go into a project specific increasing back-off of the attempts to upload to prevent bandwidth overload. This will also temporarily stop downloads of new work from the effected project so has not to make the upload problems worse and make it easier for everyone to send the work when the project problem has been fixed.

Edit: I happen to have two projects (Seti and Spinhenge) with work ready to upload that are having problems this weekend.

Hi,
Succes

when will Boinc be back up? It hasn't worked in weeks.
all it show is "Connecting to Localhost"
uninstalled Boinc, it wouldn't even open up "Attach to project or account manager..."

this must be a Windows 7 Update with BOINC, it was working fine then just quit
I finished doing a dual boot with Vista, installed Boinc and it started off like it should

only problem now is I don't want to be stuck in Vista just so BOINC will run

Rick you may want to monitor the new drivers you have installed. I dont know if anything beyond the 197.XX drivers work on the CUDA tasks with or without the Lunatics apps

Message 1024340 - Posted: 12 Aug 2010, 20:51:01 UTC

I just installed Boinc and accessed seti@home for the first ime in several years, since I have a much faster computer now and some idle cpu.

However, I keep getting the error message "project servers may be temporarily down" and "couldn't access servers". I don't know what's going on here.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 on an Intel Quad-Core Q8300 with 4 GB RAM and a GeForce 9800GT 512 MB video card, XP Firewall and Avira AV.

The last portion of my message log follows:

However, I keep getting the error message "project servers may be temporarily down" and "couldn't access servers". I don't know what's going on here.

Read the news on the front page:

Weekly Outage and Initial Catch Up
Every Tuesday morning (Pacific time) we begin a 3 day data distribution outage to focus on science processing and development plus any needed systems maintenance. The upload/download servers will be offline during this time. The web site (including the forums) will only be offline during the database maintenance and backup portion of the outage. On Friday, you may experience connectivity issues as the servers catch up with demand

So you won't be able to get work until (late) Friday or (early) Saturday.
