I'm not a Christian either, but for more substantial reasons than the existence of ignorant members of the church. If that's the reason you aren't a Christian, then you should reconsider being a member of any organization of more than about three people, since (I'm sad to say) there are dumb people everywhere you turn. whats sad is that most of the puritanical crap being pushed out from America started in Europe centuries ago. The European folks kicked them to the Curb and the US became a refuge for every religious nutty religious sect that couldnt muster a bit of normalcy in Europe. Whats even more fun these crazy religions are now heading back to Eurpoe to recruit more members. Kinda funny when you think of it.

I'm not Christian because there is no reason for a god to exist.

To say that God would need a reason to exist presupposes a time before God. As God always was/is/will be (or in nerd talk exists outside our perceived space-time continuum) invalidates your own reasoning. Moreover for that reason to work would require God to exist.
