You should try "The 10 Day Cache Symphony" by Antonin Dvorak - it's a whole new world! Strange I just Googled that and got Zero results. I thought Google knew everything. Oh well. I do normally download a 10 day cache with my Boinc client. But I do not have it set to "allow new tasks", as I like to update manually. So maybe I will give that App a try, if someone could post a link to it. :) |

Uhhhh? Any word as to why we have no new datasets loaded for splitting since the outage? I thought Matt's last tech news post said they had repaired the second drive bay and were able to read new data again. Or did I miss something somewhere? It's just one of these Seti glitches Mark, they'll get is sorted .... Not a glitch, just not much work being loaded to split... And still no info as to just why. The kitties are still curious. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

just not much work being loaded to split... And still no info as to just why. At the core of course is Alfa receiver time (which we piggy back on) is periodic at best and never produces the unlimited volume everyone would like. But on top of that there was the drive bay referenced in Matt's last status: Also... our data drive bay down at Arecibo was broken. We finally shipped them our bay working here at Berkeley just so they could continue to collect data Hopefully the sudden tape name jump from December to March doesn't mean the lack of on-site troubleshooting in PR made for a 3 month lost opportunity ... in which case we're headed into lean times very soon. {All Speculation} |

Network traffic has dropped right off. Only a couple of splitters running, others disabled or just not running. Grant Darwin NT |

Okay, panic of epic proportions. ::arm flail:: [/sarcasm] For the first time in.. at least 5 years.. I'm..idle. 4-day cache has failed me! In the past when people start going into a real, genuine panic because their 10-day cache now only has 9.97 days of work in it, I would go a week or more on my 4-day cache and admittedly, had a few close calls, but never had idle cores. Now, in approximately 11 minutes, system idle process will report 99%. Guess I'll see what my non-loaded CPU temps are since I have never actually had idle CPUs to get that baseline. Managed to get 39 MB's.. I suppose that's sufficient to get through the Tuesday recovery when hopefully more tapes get put online. Switched to NNT until then. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |
