I know I have been down this road before........ And very quickly, I must add. But before I post about my own antics.......(that Buick GS400+ was something else.....140mph top end or so.....7,000 rpm on a small block Buick.....my RX7 is faster from 0 to 60, but not as much top end...takes sheer horsepower to overcome wind resistance at that speed). Let's just reprise the best chase scenes that we all saw and loved. #1 has to be Bullit. #2 would be Ronin #3 would be The Seven Ups But this one has to take an LOL award.......because I don't thing the Pontiac Apollo ever had a V8 installed....at least not by the factory...nudge nudge wink wink. #4 would be The Transporter #5 would be The Blues Brothers..... At your risk, not my link. I had a bud once a long time ago that said he had stolen a couple of 35mm reels of the original footage, but could never get together with him.......... #6 would be Quantum of Solice... ala James Bond...heads up from Luke. The rest of the list is up to you. Meow. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Bullit is great but my #1 has to be Quentin Tarantino's Grind House - Death Proof In that movie they talk about "Vanishing Point" which I haven't seen, but soon will. The 1971 trailer looks like one big car chase movie. Theres been a few of those, "Cannon Ball Run" and "Smokey and the Bandit" come to mind. Rick ************************** |

Bullit is great but my #1 has to be Quentin Tarantino's Grind House - Death Proof Vanishing Point was a cult classic that I and and many other went to see in the late 60's or so......... You probably never went to a drive in theater........... The buds and I used to go to the drive-in whenever Vanishing Point was the B flick... Just to toss back a few brews and watch the show. Actually, (more than you rally wanted to know)...VP was the first show I puked at........too many beers and blackberry brandies........ I could not stand the smell of blackberry for years..... So I switched to gin gimlets for another few years........they made me puke too. Then I made the change to high grade whiskey......... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Bullit is great but my #1 has to be Quentin Tarantino's Grind House - Death Proof Drive Inn's are great! I to spent many a night tossing back a few in Drive Inn Theatres. I wasn't in the 60's but the late 70's and 80's I was there. I was too tall for the trunk so the smallest or shortest person got to hold the bottles in the trunk from rattling around through the pothole filled entrance into the theatre we used to go to. That area is all developed now and there's not many left but I know of at least 2 in my area that are still open during the summer months. Last time I went we took 5 kids to an all nighter when "Saving Private Ryan" was in theatres. The seats are better at the drive inn to over the cramped ones in multiplex theatres now. I usually just wait for the DVD to rent and go horizontal on the couch now. Rick ************************** |

Bullit is great but my #1 has to be Quentin Tarantino's Grind House - Death Proof LOL......I was there at the get-go. I was a reglar thing to get the car loaded up with a bunch of brews and a trunkload of......shall we say...less than the legal limit.......and sneak them through the gates. Just to listen to the movie through them busted up tinny speakers. LOL. I had a plan once to save them sights by burying cable under the gravel to send ultra high audio through the current high end audio systems in today's cars....... The other one I remember in the later years was. Dirty Larry and Crazy Mary..... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |
