I get a bit of Fluffy Technical email daily, one that I had sorta looked I finally read more. Those that might like to increase what they can do in Win7 and Vista 32 might be interested in this article God Mode It will lead you to a couple of other links along with a video.

Please if you play with it, create a System Restore point "BEFORE" you play... Enjoy

Works beautifully on 7 64-bit. That is a handy thing to have since everything is all in one place.

Now if only I can figure out how to get individual NICs to show up in the tray again like 2k/xp did..

This has sprung up all over the blogosphere.
And just a minute ago, I stumbled onto a cnet article stating that there are 15 more "godmodes" available.

Personally, I've had it on my taskbar for about a week now. It can be useful.

I don't have any skills that are not available to any other mortal man.

I just have a lot of OCD that make me pursue everything to the end.

I have lost a lotta sleep, and fried many neurons getting to where I am.

I think, at least, I have achieved something that few would wish to.

Meow.

Which I do.

That's what I've just been saying about my new HTPC.... and it's running at stock speed atm.

I seem to recall some of these things back in the win9x days. I think I had seen some on an easter egg site or something. Good to see MS is still putting in the back doors tho lol. Thanks for the tip Pappa.

Not looked, but...

Is that just a jazzed up version of what the old Windows TweakUI used to do?

(Some of us have that already without any fanciful "power words"... ;-) )

This has been available for use since W98/XP days. Not to say that to many it may be a new thing and some may find it useful. It really has nothing to do with TweakUI, but does accomplish some of the things TweakUI did for you. Everything in the "Godmode", and you can name it anything you like, is there through other clicks in the normal operating system. (and there are some operating system versions where it does not work).

Cosmic, how did you get it to work? I created the directory and named it accordingly, but my icon didn't change and the directory is empty. I'm using Win 7 in 64 bit mode. I have the middle version of W7, whatever MS calls it. I don't know if that is a factor or not.

Hmmm. I rebooted to see if that would make it work, and it didn't. In fact, the tail end of the opening music you hear when your profile loads was cut off, and there was some trash being displayed on the desktop, as in there was a thin section running left to right across the desktop that was skewed or out of sync with the rest of the video being displayed.

I'm going to delete that directory and reboot again.

I'm using Ultimate. All I did was as I said. Create a new folder, and name it accordingly.

Okay not sure what happened other than the "exact string" has to be put in the "folder name." That you would then "cutnpaste" into the new folder name.

What the basics of it doing is instead of the Control Panel with everything in categories, it places everything in a vertical list (with a couple extras). Then You have access to things that are not obvious.

When you say middle version of Windows 7 is that Home Premium? If you still can't get it going. I can try loading the same version that you have on one of my machines & give it a go.

I've always found typing iddqd put me in god mode, but I hear that doesn't work anymore.

EDIT: Make sure you are putting the whole name in with GodMode. before the bracket. not just the string in the brackets. Reading over their artical they don't make that clear perhaps.

I had resisted putting this up, the folder name has to be (all inclusive)

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

As noted before you "CutnPaste" please create a system restore point. Then you can get back for the Safe Mode if all else fails.

At least I learned how to set a restore point in Win7 :) of course if I had the God Mode first I would have went right to it...LOL

I thought I'd try it again, and guess what? It worked. Go figure. I had cut and pasted before, so maybe there was something in the method I used to create the entry that went haywire.

Cool stuff in there.

Thanks for the help guys.
