Yes, we're getting some too. Nothing like the UK, though.

I read today that North Wales is running short of salt for the roads. Not fun.

Most areas have run out of salt. None of the roads in my town have been gritted, which makes driving anywhere near on impossible - we don't have winter tyres in the UK, I don't think you can even buy them here & snow chains, yeah right!

It was -7.4C here last night, which is a new record for my location. -21.2C recorded elsewhere!

My plumbing has frozen up again - no flushing toilet today, although thankfully I still have running hot & cold water at the kitchen sink so I can at least have a wash!

I think today may get a bit warmer, above freezing even, but tonight looks deadly again!

From someone in earthquake country, fill a bucket and pour to flush.

As to those frozen pipes, pray they don't split. And now you know to leave them running just a wee bit to keep them warm. Otherwise drain them of water before the freeze.

The pipes to the taps (which were closed) haven't frozen, it's the water to the toilet that is frozen - suspect it is because the pipe is buried in the wall. It won't split as it's plastic - or at least, is very unlikely to. (I hope!)

I'd hate to have to turn the water off and drain everything, because at that point the house becomes unlivable really. Not being able to wash & shower before going to work would not be my cup of tea!

I have the day off today, so will be able to hear when the pipe defrosts.

For some reason the temperatures are rapidly rising here at the moment, whereas just heard they are still falling elsewhere and are now below -22C.

Well I've had My pipes freeze here, once, But then they unfroze and then they didn't leak at all, Right type of pipe I guess(dumb luck).
