Greetings, all,

If this is a repost of an old problem, I apologize; truth be told, I sepnt a few minutes trying to find something similar, wasn't able to, and wasn't going to spend much more time on that hunt. I never used to have this problem back int he day with the old SETI set up. Please advise because I like BOINC and like SETI and would to continue using both. Thanks.

Here's what happens:

NOTE: this machine and a Linux box share a monitor using a KVM.

* Eventually SETI starts as a screensaver.

* I switch screens back over to the XP machine by hitting Scroll-Lock twice then the number 4 then the Enter key.

* move the mouse and SETI freezes on the screen but the pointer still moves.

* occasionally the pointer will switch over to a finger or a grabber as if I'd moved it over a link or scalable window. No such luck.

* stays frozen until I do a hard reboot.

Come to think of it, this also happened with the World Community Project, too, so I'm pretty sure it's a BOINC issue.

SETI does not start as a screensaver (as it was in old times) -
usually (if you don't choose otherwise) it runs all the time at the background as a very low priority process.

You do not need the BOINC screensaver so the easy solution is to change the screensaver to (None).

Or upgrade the video driver.

BOINC 6.6 is no longer in production. Update to 6.10.21 first, then see if you can reproduce this problem.

Also XP SP3 has been out for a long time. You might want to make sure your system has *all* updates, not just the video driver.
