Well............
If that wasn't just the durndest thing.

Last night, my daily driver locked up tight. Could not do a thing with it. Rebooted a half dozen times....no go.

Ok, no problem, right? I got 7 other rigs online, switch over to another one.
Uh oh. Same thing... Next rig. Same problem.

Turns out that my mouse suffered some kind of strange failure mode that absolutely locked up the OS. So of course, when I KVM'd over to another rig, the problem followed. I just about freaked and thought I might have caught some kind of virus that had infected all my rigs.

Finally started to scope it out and realized that all the rigs were still crunching Seti normally, which didn't fit with a virus killing the OS.

And the keyboard was still responding to num lock. Swapped in a new mousie and all is good again. (I knew there was a reason I always have spares on hand for the mouse and keyboard.)

A big kitty sigh of relief.

I'm glad the spare mouse revived You from that shock Mark, Me I've got several too, Although just like keyboards, Mice seem to last a long time I'd think.

I usally end up replacing my mouse about once every 5 years. My last mouse was replaced because I had worn a whole thur the left button where my index finger presses. Otherwise it was still fully functional.

Salve Amici, : ))

So, Sunday evening, after a pleasant weekend at the Kielder Forest Star Party. Everything there from 16" Dob's for "push to" observers, through to short focal length refractors for the imagers. My 12: Flextube seemed to attract a few interested people - got good comments re the quality of the views as well.

Some good talks on Saturday afternoon, good food in the local Pub, then hours of great dark skies. 200+ amateur astronomers, from all over the UK (Aberdeen in the north to Devon in the south).

Heard a great talk by a Yorkshireman who had 2 years in Sth Australia - awesome dark skies - pity there is no Pole Star down there though.

Hope you all have a good week ahead.

Tom
