Hopefully they won't make the same mistake when it is their turn with their kids. It is all one can ever hope for. Oh, in for a squirrel win. Yes, I hope they don't make the same mistakes I've made. I was determined to not make the same mistakes my father did. He worked every day and spent the nights drinking with his alcoholic drinking buddies. By the time I was a teenager, we hardly knew each other. And he was physically abusive, another trait of an alcoholic. I don't drink or do drugs and I spend all the time possible with my kids. We can sit down together and talk like friends about anything.. So, I didn't make the mistakes my father did. I made a whole set of different mistakes. I can tell any future parents some shocking news that they wont believe until/if it happens.. You can dearly love you children. Give them everything they could possibly need. Do your best to teach them right from wrong. Be there for them every time they have a problem... And it still might not be enough! Please nobody respond. One Mistake I would not repeat that My Dad and Mom did was He'd use a belt(not just to hold His Trousers up with) and Mom was a shrinking violet in Denial, I'd never use a belt for anything other than holding My pants up, Some Discipline is necessary however(hand spankings only if needed), Otherwise Yer raising a wild thing who has no respect for rules or laws, As the word boundaries comes to mind and a child needs to know there are limits He/She should cross as He/She will be held accountable by society after a certain point in time.
