Contrary to popular belief, the White House was always white. A lime-based whitewash was used in 1798 to protect the sandstone from the elements. The earliest known written mention of "White House" is from 1812. President Theodore Roosevelt made the name official in 1901.

Fact of the Day: atmosphere

Without the atmosphere, it would be impossible to live on earth. The atmosphere's layers form a "blanket" around the earth, protecting us from dangerous rays of the sun and from the cold of outer space. The atmosphere contains the air that we breathe, water vapor, and dust. Air contains carbon dioxide and nitrogen, vital for life, and water vapor forms the clouds that bring rain. The atmosphere is held in place by the pull of the earth's gravity and extends to about 1,250 miles above the earth.

And without a planetary magnetic field(Look at Mars and Venus, Both are losing their atmosphere), the Earth would be stripped of Its atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide would be last to go.

AFAIK Mars has lost most of its atmosphere. Venus has a very dense atm, made of CO2. So maybe Venus is Earth's past, Mars is Earth's future. In between, life.

The CO2 atmosphere of Venus is being stripped slowly by the solar wind(like explained Here), So Venus will one day look more like a bigger version of Mars, Earth as long as It has a Magnetic field will have an atmosphere far into the future as It does now as long as the magnetic field exists and protects the Earths atmosphere from the solar wind(solar particles).

Canada has the world's longest coastline of 202,080 kilometres (125,567 miles) and Monaco has the shortest coastline of 5.632 kilometers (3.5 miles).

How about countries like Paraguay - no coast, so 0 coastline.

With six commercial storage sites -- more than any other state in the union -- Illinois is currently home to over 7,000 metric tons of spent uranium from nuclear reactors. There are 121 storage sites in the U.S. -- 66 of them are commercial sites, 55 are military sites -- and they're spread out across Illinois and 38 other states. All of the "waste" is awaiting a more permanent home, which for two decades had been assigned to Yucca Mountain Repository in New Mexico, a plan that has been all but scrapped.

The Yucca Mountain Repository is in Nevada, and has basically been scrapped. New Mexico has WIPP, the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, which is supposed to be for low level nuclear waste. WIPP is open, but has had some problems but some waste has been transferred there.

Well lets see, Then there is reprocessing the spent fuel into MOX fuel(usable in a nuclear reactor) by mixing the old stuff with some new stuff, But then We've been doing that with old Soviet era Nuclear warheads(It makes real good fuel then, Eventually all that should be left will be either lead or something not so hot, There's a plant being either constructed or expanded over in Georgia(USA) that will or does do this.

Depends on how far you mean. Try driving to Hawaii from any of the other states.
