Hello Fellow SETIers, Help please. For the last few days I have been unable to access my SETI Account on my home computer. When I enter my e-mail address and password, I receive no response. When I enter the mechanism to reset my e-mail address or password, I receive the following: "YOU MUST SUPPLY AN ACCOUNT KEY." When I go thorough the process to "reset password" etc., and follow all instructions including providing the string account number from my BOINC/SETI account file, I again receive no response except: "YOU MUST SUPPLY AN ACCOUNT KEY." I've re-downloaded SETI to my home computer, but that has not eliminated the account access problem. I've participated in SETI for over three years and have never before had any difficulty accessing my account. Is there a solution to this? How do I obtain an ACCOUNT KEY? Thanks, Barney |

Your account key is shown in your account. Since you can post on the forums, you must be logged in, so you should be able to get into your account. |

Thanks Jord, But my posting (and this posting) was from a remote SETI participating computer at my work office, not from my home computer. My home computer, which I use daily to check my SETI progress, would not allow the posting because of the ACCOUNT KEY access problem. I run five computers on SETI. ONLY my home computer has the "account key" access problem. Does anyone suggestions as to how that can be corrected on my home computer? Thanks, Barney |

The account key is to be found also in the file account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml in your BOINC data directory. It's the string between <authenticator> and </authenticator>. Gruß, Gundolf |

Thanks Gundolf, I have obtained my account key number from the BOINC data directory. How do I go about reactivating the account key on my home computer so that I may access my SETI account on that computer? I see no link for sending it to SETI for confirmation and have found no "activate" option on my home computer. I've tried all the pathways I can find. Please excuse my computer illiteracy -- I'm a physician. Again, this posting is from a remote computer since I cannot post from my home computer without an active account key on my home computer Barney |

Thanks Gundolf, Is your computer at home attached to SETI? If not, the simplest means for getting it attached is to copy the account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file from a computer that is working on your account to the machine that is not attached to SETI. Is the problem posting to the forums from your computer at home? If it is, then you probably have cookies turned off for setiathome.berkeley.edu. BOINC WIKI |

On your home computer go to your account. On the "Please log in" page, select the forgot password link. Scroll down on the following page to "Log in with authenticator". There, copy and paste your account key and click OK. Gruß, Gundolf |

Is the problem posting to the forums from your computer at home? If it is, then you probably have cookies turned off for setiathome.berkeley.edu. Or blocking the Seti pages in Noscript or another (java)script blocker. |

Thanks To All!!!!, The SETI Community is great. Thanks to all of you for your time and advice. I went to the Internet Explorer cookie filter in my home computer and lowered the cookie blocking threshold from "high" to the default "moderate." Now I can again access my SETI account on my home computer and can post messages with no problem. I've learned a lot from this interaction. Regards, Barney |

Thanks To All!!!!, Or you can put it back up at high, and create an exception (sites button) to specifically allow seti@home (this is what I do on my browsers). BOINC WIKI |

Thanks John, I'll do that. I like to keep my computers as "cookie free" as possible. Regards, Barney |
