Tiger hooked one rather badly, and decided to play it from where it lay instead of taking the penalty.

"Tiger was so embarrassed by missing the cut for the British Open that he hid in his basement and practiced putting on his pool table."

I've heard it's hard to soar with the eagles when you're running with the turkeys, but I wonder what effect hanging with pigeons has.

In his later years, Jonathan Livingston became confused about his identity and he started hanging around with the local low-lifes. He also forgot how to fly.

Well I achieved my ambition and married a flamingo, but I'm very disappointed with the resulting offspring.

Q: What do you get when you cross Larus occidentalis with Phoenicopterus chilensis?
A: No idea, but don't feed it.

(see posts 871467 and 872089 if you don't remember the back story)

(edit) Truth being stranger than fiction, we read in Wikipedia:
[The genetically related subgroup] Metaves contains flamingos, ... pigeons, ... . Interestingly, most of these groups have traditionally been difficult to place on the family tree of birds.
Flamingos produce a "milk" like pigeon milk due to the action of a hormone called prolactin.
Young flamingos hatch with grey plumage.
