Currently the Cricket graphs are showing about 803kbit/s in and 26.9mbits/s out. The server status page shows no wu's available to send.

So, what's using up all those mbits outbound??

In is out & out is in.
What the router shows as outbound is actually inbound for the servers. And what the router considers inbound is actually outbound for the servers.

Well, all the uploads are completed now, so we have completed the download is OK, upload is not stage. But we are back to the other end of the Seti Waltz - theres no work to download again.

With the weekend here already, I suppose it is time to warm up the backup projects.

In the splitter status there are a lot of channels that have ended in errors. AFAIK that means a lower or no output of WU's from that tape. I believe Matt made a comment about it a few days/weeks ago, that the tapes from storage are error rich. Maybe the reason they weren't split earlier.

According to the server status there are 150k AP in the field.
I got none of them.
Don't know why but I have all boxes ticked in preferences.
Boinc Manager is requesting tasks for cpu and gpu.
No Cuda tasks here for days and only just got some 6.03 a
couple of days ago.
Looks like I will have to wait for resends.
2 gpu's cold and the room temp has dropped by 10 degrees.

Same here. Of all the thousands of AP's sent out the last couple of day's, I only got one.

Only one rig of mine keeps getting 5.03 resends. The last 10 5.03's that I've done at all, that machine has done 7 of them.

Still have not seen a 5.05.

Have managed to finish a couple of 5.05 with the Opt app, but in general these APs are very limited. But then again, any WUs are very limited.

Looks like these kind of rocky ride is going to become the norm ever since AP5.03 started to dwindle.

Having recently rejoined SETI@Home I am dismayed to find that while the use of BOINC has allowed more projects to work in parallel, SETI appears to have become less efficient.

After setting up my computers (Macs and PCs) to run SETI initially all as well, very soon the computers were having trouble communicating with the server. There also appears to be an intriguing bias. Whilst the Macs can access the server only occasionally, the PCs don't appear to be able to access the server at all, and have now gone on to work on other projects!

Is there some reason for this apparent incompetence or is the system broken!

With regards

Andrew

That seems like a lot of b/w just to say, "there's no work for you now", over and over again.

Martin

The outbound traffic will be resends, and Traffic from the Beta Project, which is still operating normally.

And new work is being split and sent out:

WU 471534624: created 4 Jul 2009 10:43:13 UTC (ten minutes ago), and already out in the field.

Just not very much of it.

Because I am running two BOINC programs thought I would send up some complete WUS and get this message:
04/07/2009 17:10:38 SETI@home Reporting 2 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
04/07/2009 17:12:12 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
04/07/2009 17:12:13 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
04/07/2009 17:12:13 SETI@home Scheduler request failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer
What went wrong and can someone explain please?

Incompetence is a pretty strong indictment.

The problem is budget: SETI is doing an amazing amount of work with very little money. The servers are mostly donated hardware, or hand-me-downs.

On average, they handle the load just fine. When loads peak, they struggle.

On the other hand, BOINC is designed to deal with less-than-perfect conditions, and if you simply ignore the problems everything will sort itself out.

Are there really no Cuda tasks.I have 2 gpus that have not got any work even though for the last 24 hrs Boinc has been requesting gpu work.
What if anything can I do?
I have not changed anything on the rig.
Its ok for people to say just let it take care of itself but after the last couple of months I have my doubts.
69k's worth of tasks according to the server but even when cricket graph showed normal levels still no work sent.

IMHO Ned - well spoken
However it must be considered the frustration that ensues when one can't upload - download, or even report = such as is currently the case, probably until after next tuesday.

Still seeing RED.

By the way.....how can 69,000+ MultiBeam work units instantly show up ready for download?
And then the bandwidth maxes out? Instantly?
