Just upgraded my farm & I like the way it asks for gpu & cpu work seperately. Nice one Dev's. |

Running brilliantly on two rigs all day here. Still sometimes get 2 CPU tasks starting and gpu goes idle. If pause CPU project, then resume; GPU will begin working. Then two CPU tasks can run also. But if CPU start first, GPU will idle. "The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not Eureka! It seems like all the changes are associated with CUDA and GPU functions. Is there any reason to do the upgrade if you don't have a GPU? |

Yes if you want BOINC to stop messaging you "there is a newer version of BOINC..." In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

not really. I tried to upgrade my Linux because I was sitting on 6.2.XX and decided it was time for a move up In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Something new with the screensaver? Someone told me, that this one is using the same, like Seti Classic. Wont believe that. |

Severe problems here with the new Windows version, at least with the manager. I'm running the optimized applications, which apparently aren't able to connect to the manager, i.e. the apps are running, but the manager doesn't show them. I can't do it manually because I'm not given a chance to do so. Can anyone confirm this? |

Can't be. The screen saver is built into the science app, so a new app would have to be released in order to have a new screensaver. The screen saver hasn't been built into the science app since BOINC 6, Charlie. It's now a separate graphics application. But these latest BOINC versions have new code for the screen saver (in case the project releases a new graphics app) and a new BOINC screen saver. |

Can you post the first 20 or so lines of your log messages please. Are you running as a service? BOINC blog |

I removed Boinc completely and set it up from scratch. Here you are what the stdoutdae.txt is saying: 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Starting BOINC client version 6.6.36 for windows_intelx86 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Data directory: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\BOINC 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Running under account Video 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Processor: 4 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11] 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 mmx 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional x86 Edition, Service Pack 3, (05.01.2600.00) 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 5.83 GB virtual 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Disk: 39.06 GB total, 24.37 GB free 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Local time is UTC +2 hours 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] CUDA device: GeForce 8600 GTS (driver version 17824, compute capability 1.1, 256MB, est. 17GFLOPS) 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Not using a proxy 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Preferences limit memory usage when active to 1023.40MB 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1842.11MB 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Preferences limit disk usage to 10.00GB 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] This computer is not attached to any projects 13-Jun-2009 08:50:42 [---] Visit http://boinc.berkeley.edu for instructions |

Looks fine. Now copy optimized applications (and app_info.xml) to the BOINC data directory and attach to SETI@home. Gruß, Gundolf [edit] André, Du solltest Deinen Usernamen in Unicode (UTF-8) eingeben. So wie er jetzt ist (westeuropäisch windows), sieht er hier ziemlich fernöstlich aus.[/edit] Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. This is very interesting: Due to a change of the ISP I had to set up new router hardware about 1 month ago. It was necessary to give my machine a new IP, which didn't cause any problems with SETI@home. But I've just remembered having done so. Now, with the old IP assigned to my computer, BOINC Manager suddenly finds the internet and is currently downloading the files and data. What the heck ...? Update: I closed BOINC, copied the optimized apps to the right place -- and again no go in the manager now while the four seti instances are doing their jobs as the task manager says. This is weird. |
