no, it DOESN'T.

You dont need a person sitting and babysitting a webpage. It just doesnt work this way. IF you make news, it takes one person 20 seconds a day to post an update (I can tell they only spend 20 seconds on it since they never even bother to spellcheck it and thus its full of errors, which seem to stem from fast typing).

Ask anyone who ran a website, only ADDING NEW CONTENT takes effort. Otherwise the site just keeps running and running and running all by itself.

There is ALOT of effort that goes into developing the new boinc software. But maintaining the sites, is most the same effort as we spend on writing those posts in the forum; if not less.

Well, there is always that problem of back up tapes ...

Mounting and unmounting tapes for the splitters, monitoring the database and doing tuning ...

and a few other things. Like write proposals, do the research that is related to the project's creation of the result data ...

We could go on ...

But those who think there is little to do by the SETI@Home staff won't believe me, and those that do believe me are not complaining that they are sitting on their hands ...

Noone said there is little for the staff to do...

I said that the list contained a bunch of BULL.

Its a ton of work developing new stuff, and there are a bunch of things that they do that we dont know. But making up imaginary work for them... thats just silly.

I would think the only way one could compare projects is if they were all funded approximately the same and had the same user/server loading.

I worked in an environment where the air conditioning was "marginal" to say the least. We had temperature/humidity changes all the time and were constantly troubleshooting equipment that seemed to fail intermittently. Reboots, reseating circuit cards, cycling power, etc; all this did was add to problems in the future, but sometimes it did fix the immediate problem. If the Seti project has that type of environment as Matt indicated, they have their hand full.

Let's see if I can make some links here for you:

Climate Prediction CPDN
LHC@Home

These are the other 2 I run beside SETI. I tried to run Pirates but after about a week and a half of not getting my first WUs, I detached from them. They don't do any real scientific work anyway. Someone else here has given a link to them. They have a link to one called Einstein which hopes to start early next year. I already signed up with them. Hope this helps....

well, those two are listed on the boinc home page already.

It lists:
Seti
LHC
Climateprediction
Folding

The question was, where to find the pirates one, and any other projects for boinc that are not released yet.

It's called evolution my friend =)
Most of the time you really have to know the errors before you can correct them.

Ok, I guess you must be right.
Nevertheless a big thank you for the energy and work done in a correct informative way.
Problems do not make me nervous - I really appreciate your very informative reaction - in this one I owe you a wellmeaned apology.

Greetings from Belgium ;-))
