I was recently able to recover my account I had set up in 1999 and was wondering if its possible to combine the new one I have been using into my older one?

BOINC accounts cannot be merged, you will have to choose which one to continue with.

You can merge a Classic account into one BOINC account, have its score as a memento on your account pages, as on BOINC you will start from zero credits just like everyone else did. Or just use the Classic account, power it up, so to say. See the "Special instructions:" on the front page (left column).

Thanks for the quick responce now for dumb question number 2 how do I stop BOINC from using my newer account and switch it to this one? Do I download it again using this account?

BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Projects tab->hi-light Seti@Home->click Detach (on the left)->Confirm that decision.

Then BOINC Manager->Tools->Attach to project->follow the Attach to wizard, select Seti from the list, then when you come to user attachment choose yes, existing user and fill in the email address and password for that account. Then keep clicking Next until you see Finish.

It would be wise to set up a password first on the account you want to go use.
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/home.php is the link to the account you are now logged in with. You can find this link at the top and bottom menu bar here on all pages, showing as ACCOUNT.

Do you want to change to another (older) account? If yes, then make sure to use the Log Out option in your account, click the account link again and then click "Forgot password?", fill in the email address of the old account and click Send. Then go to that email account's inbox, check its spam filters, wait for the email from Seti to get in and click the link in the email. You'll log in on the old account and can there set up a new password (typed twice, don't forget to save it) that you can then immediately use in the BOINC Attach To wizard.
