My screensaver starts up fine but once I try to regain control of the computer the pulse graphics stop and go away and I am left with "BIONIC S There was a long discussion of this in the BOINC development mailing list. The current recommended BOINC version supposedly has this fixed. Please upgrade to the latest at http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php ____________ BOINC WIKI

Thanks, that was the first thing that I tried and I am at 6.6.20 but no joy. I guess I can try a uninstall, then a reboot, and then reinstall.

It isn't picking up the CUDA, could that be the problem?

It isn't picking up the CUDA, could that be the problem? That is probably a separate problem. I don't know your setup at all, but CUDA does not work if you use the "Protected install". CUDA also does not work if you are running BOINC in a Virtual Machine. I *used* to have the same problem with Vista locking up when I was trying to undo the screen saver. It was, however, fixed by 6.6.15 and has stayed fixed since. Which is why I suggested that you upgrade. Have you tried the 3 finger salute (CTRL-ALT-DEL) to get to the login screen? CTRL-ALT-ESC? WinKey? If it is a laptop, the lid switch? ____________ BOINC WIKI

Could you try 6.6.23, it contained another screensaver fix for machines that have multiple video chipsets embedded within them which was causing the screensaver code to get confused.

Link to BOINC v6.6.23 Yes, but since he's using Vista x64, it may be useful to use BOINC v6.6.23 64bit. :-) ____________ Jord - BOINC FAQ Service - BOINC User Wiki Real is just a matter of perception.

Yes, CTRL+ALT+DEL, etc all break the screensaver lock and that is what I have been doing for a while. I am running Vista X64 and will try the 6.6.23 and report back. Thanks for the link
