Winning in Cal! (It's warm here compared to what I am used to!) Morning Andy, you're up early (for Cal). Watch out for the Prius, it's very addictive. Not least the incredible 0-20 acceleration. |

Clarkson (Top Gear) made them out to be completely rubbish, but I really like it. I drove to the local supermarket & back last night (couple of miles) without using any gas at all :D Even the A/C works without the engine running. The regenerative braking is really impressive. Going to go back to bed shortly, no way I can get up for the day yet! |

Winning in Cal! (It's warm here compared to what I am used to!) Hi Andy! Welcome to the Hotel California. ;) Hope You like It, The High Desert out around Barstow in going to be about 86F(30°C) and 61°F(16°C) Tonight and partly cloudy The Prius sounds like It would give the FORD Escort zx2 sport a run for the money(It can get 30mpg, If I use cruise control and do no more than 70mph), But the zx2 is paid for at least and It seems there's a good bunch of aftermarket parts for It Here too. :) I'll be able to lower the car 1.5" and solve the cars handling problems in crosswinds with about $453 in parts(before any tax and labor of course). :D The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Thanks Joker. We're in the LA area for a few days. Heading off to San Diego, then passing through your way, onto Vegas, then going to play in the desert for a bit before going up towards San Fran. We have an action packed agenda for the next 2 weeks. The Prius is showing 60MPG as an average right now, it's comparable to my Diesel Ford Focus at home, but quieter & smoother (Diesel's tend to be a bit rough, even agricultural if older engine). I've been considering replacing my Focus with either a Toyota Prius or a Honda Insight, hence hiring one for 2 weeks to try it out. |

But those are presumably tiny American gallons so you are doing even better than you might think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallon |

You're welcome Andy and Good Morning to You, Moon and everybody else who might or might not be a sleep now. Well I don't have a need for such a car as the Prius, One guy in here drives one though, Maybe If I'm lucky I'll see a Prius going to Vegas on the I15 Freeway outside soon(Not the I40 as that will take You to Arizona, Not to Las Vegas NV). Good Luck and have fun Andy. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Very good point Shannock! Everything is supposed to be bigger and better here - except for their gallon it seems ;) Hello to Moon too. Hope you are well? Never been to your beautiful Island, but if I did I am sure I wouldn't want to leave either! |

One thing to watch Andy. US speedometers are accurate. They don't read 10% high as legally required in Britain. There is some customary slack on the speed enforcement (5mph I think), but if it says 55 on the speedo then you really are. |
