I haven't had a chance to get v1.12 BoincLogX yet. When I do, I will let you know if it "starts the core client heartbeat" again. ;-) Maybe it has a built in defibrolator. ;-) I may take a look at some of those other programs you mentioned too. I don't really get much time to download except on the weekends. Thanks.... L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. @ Stephen Balch I downloaded and installed BoincLogX v1.12, but I'm still getting the heartbeat message. I just checked this morning on a finished SETI WU and it had the message. Hmmmm.... Weird, huh? L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Let me add my 2 pesos to this thread. My WU's are rejecting on 2 Win98 machines. Still running 4.09 as I'm unable to connect with the schedulers for updates/more work. The Id's that are rejecting here are 01mr exclusively (since last reboot). I am receiving credit for work done, however. Big credit compared to previously. But, I'll be out of work in 2 days unless the problem is fixed so that boost will go bye-bye. *********************************************** Beer, naked women & wanton destruction? I'm in. |

Siran, I did check my log and I have gotten one instance of the heartbeat message. There has been mention of this problem, or something very similar, in other threads. [EDIT]I did a search on "heartbeat". Apparently BOINC sends a signal, referred to as a "heartbeat," so the science apps know BOINC is still running. BOINCLogX apparently uses this same signal to determine if BOINC is up. One post states, "If this [the stderr.txt file] contains "No heartbeat from core client - exiting" you probably have the same problem as I do. (No answer as yet, but this seems to be caused by heavy CPU / DISK loading.)" This "problem" seems to have existed at least since CC 4.05.[/EDIT] > @ Stephen Balch I downloaded and installed BoincLogX v1.12, but I'm > still getting the heartbeat message. I had a SETI WU finish almost 2 hours ago. The heartbeat message is in BoincLogX v1.12. I looked in the BOINC stderr.txt file and no error was reported for that WU. I checked the stdout.txt file and it reports the upload was ok. I probably wouldn't think about it so much if it happened once in a while, but every SETI WU gets the message. LHC does not get it.
