A planet close to the moon perhaps?[/quote First we must define what we mean by 'close'. |

Yes ! an interior surface The word pellucidar comes to mind, It's a concept invented by Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs for a series of action adventure stories. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
A planet close to the moon perhaps?[/quote First we must define what we mean by 'close'. It is all relevant. lets ask this question if it is in light years then I would say 2; if by chance you mean miles perhaps millions. LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

Well in the remake which was released in Dec 2008 I got the impression they traveled from another Planet in the solar system.Really, that's interesting! I wouldn't have expected that, given what we know about the other planets of this solar system today. Michael |

As I suggested at the beginning of the thread, the answer can be deduced from information given near the the beginning of the movie. Anyone wanting to try this approach may go to You Tube, search the phrase: The day the Earth stood still (1951) Full Movie part two. Watch and listen. Michael |

near the moon = near us earth is the 3eme planete then the other planet was the 2eme or 4eme then Venus or Jupiter Venus is more like earth sorry for my english Venus est considerée comme la soeur jumelle de la terre taille, densitée et composition presque identiques " l'etoile du berger " in french |

near the moon = near us Venus is like Earth in size only, Otherwise It may as well be HELL and one day Venus will have no atmosphere as Venus has no magnetic field to protect the Venusian atmosphere from the erosion caused by the Solar wind coming from the Sun. Venus is like Earth in size only, Otherwise It may as well be HELL and one day Venus will have no atmosphere as Venus has no magnetic field to protect the Venusian atmosphere from the erosion caused by the Solar wind coming from the Sun. ____________ I was wondering what the inspirational quantity of that sort of comment has, scientifically, we are very capable of terra forming Venus, it is not true to say that its atmosphere will soon be gone, it is not true that it has no magnetic feild, metalic element composure may be added scientifically, as has been proposed for adding the 'add gravity' technology to space applications {the international space station and other orbit platforms} of course, your not a scientist, your not educated to be influencing the next generation of scientist who may be looking for inspiration on science forums {which is what I believe their for}, but, perhaps science fiction is something you could help with concerning your catagoric testimony of science opinion. |
