20535 pending, 1413 rac

14.5:1

I don’t really mind because I’ll get credit for them eventually. I am kinda of curious to see how big the ratio can get.. .

I think what is currently happening to your pending is that you worked other projects and came back to seti. You processed a bunch of work right away while most people have to work through their cache to get to the work you've already done. I'd bet your pending goes down to about 4-5X:1 once you've been crunching seti regularly for a month or so

That, and I have only just begun accepting AP units (optimized of course) so I bet that is a part of it.

It is Kenzie.
I switsched one of my three machines to AP as well and RAC dropped by 1000.

Call it eHarmony for work units. When a client reports a completed work unit, the validator as part of it's normal validation process could mark the other "in progress" task with a flag saying to the effect "ready for wingman". Then, the next time the wingman's client communicates with the host, it could pick up that flag and use it as part of the client's logic for determining high-priority tasks. So the client would always work on "ready" tasks first. The trick would be to make sure those tasks don't interfere with truly high-priority tasks based on deadline.

Has some merit, but unfortunately wouldn't have helped This one or any other slow hosts that only have one WU and dont contact the servers unil it is done.

As a proof of concept, I wrote a vbscript that queries the "In Progress" tasks from the website once a day to determine the ones waiting on wingman validation, and once a day I would manually set those tasks to run first on my BOINC clients. Been running this for a few weeks now and here are my results:

RAC: 6486
Pending Credit: 13,857
Around 2:1 pending:RAC

As I said before, this works best with a large cache, running only AP.

Wow, ccappel, and I thought that I liked to micro-manage! ;o)

Pending: 26615 RAC 1535

17.3 : 1

Just for fun, I’d kinda like to see it hit 20 : 1. (And then start falling, of course.)

A semi-random side question: I have my preferences set to allow both MB and AP but all I have been getting is AP. Is that by chance or are the servers skewed to sending AP units to reasonably able machines?

I don’t mind either way, just curious.

Here's my ratio:

RAC: 5,258.65
Pending: 45,892.41

Ratio: 8.727

Four rigs that are set to receive all but only get AP_v5, and one that just can't handle AP, so it only does MB.

That is one of the reasons that I shift back and forth from venues, I allow AP on the work venue but not the home venue.

Since I run our optimized astropulse I doubled the rac from 8000 to 16000
all without any GPU.

I have to report that my pendings took a tumble yesterday, the 16th, as my daily total, according to BoincStats, was 16,469cr. Far above my normal RAC.

I think that I finally peaked. :)

{Edit} Perhaps more telling: Since April 12th I've completed and returned 30 AP wu's, 28 of them are pending.

I found that it took about three months for Astropulse v5 to start paying off. That is, my pending has stopped rising dramatically.
