Hi, I joined SETI@HOME 4 days back. Since today i have completed 4 tasks. Today(02/23/2009) i got two new tasks, i observed that size of tasks are suddenly increased. Tasks earlier i got was of few KBs that i could complete in 1 day. But, new two tasks i got are of 8MB each and deadline is of just 1 month. I doubt i may not complete them on time. What can i do in this case? Can't we have task of smaller size? NOTE: Preferences of computer is set to use 100% CPU time. Thanks, Chirag |

Those new ones are the new Astropulse. If you do not want to crunch Astropulse work, go to your Seti preferences and edit them. Now set the preferences up in this way: Run only the selected applications - SETI@home Enhanced: check mark - Astropulse: no check mark If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? no (that's without the check mark) Save the new preferences to the web site with the update button at the bottom of the page. The next time your BOINC contacts Seti, it'll use those preferences and only send you Seti Enhanced work. |

One thing I forgot to say. The work that is already on your computer won't stop because of these preferences. You will either have to crunch them or abort them. But you won't get new Astropulse tasks afterwards. |
