Shortly into the new year I started getting problems reporting results to SETI@Home. Warning says project may be down, but all servers except two splitters are up and running. the weekly shutdown was also over, and one of my SETI jobs have finished and reported uccessfully after that. I curently have two results listed as new and in progress. For one of that's true, but this one have problems reporting in after the data set have been uploaded. Anything I can do to remedy this? No changes have ben made to my install, except i have suspended some projects now and then (including SETI) to make more work on lhcathome. I intend to migrate my BOINC projects to a newly built computer. Until then, no more tasks will be downloaded, and LHC@home will be migrated separately, as opposed to just emptying the queue for the others and disconnect them on the old host before reconnecting on new host. EDIT: Looks like this problem have been referenced in a different topic also, but I did not see that one before posting this. Replies to my post can be made in that topic if you prefer. |

Message on the Home page: OK...here is the Server Status page......a page that tells the truth as it knows it....in other words, check the update time....if the servers have all stalled, and the update time is older that 30 minutes or so old...it may no longer be valid.... Then there is the Scarecrow Graphs.... wonderful for reference...but they are at the mercy of the servers too....if the servers are all down...Scarecrow gets no data to graph.... And the most reliable of all, the Cricket Graphs.......they show the bandwidth in and out of the Seti servers...and are not hosted on the Seti servers...so they are almost always accessible even when the Seti servers are on the fritz......... Hope this helps you in the future...meow. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Anakin was down for a day or so, and midday on Jan 1, the server status page showed anakin was running again, but the cricket graphs said otherwise. I just looked minutes ago and apparently the flood gates opened up about 0330 GMT. My hosts have not been able to connect, but the bandwidth is maxed out since 0330 GMT, so it will act just like the recovery period after the Tuesday outages. I just looked minutes ago and apparently the flood gates opened up about 0330 GMT. Does that mean data transfer is possible again and it is just a matter of time until it's "my turn"? Until now I can not report any WU's and I also don't receive any new ones. I'm dry, no more to do. Can somebody please tell me if I can expect communication in the very near future (matter of minutes) or that it will take a bit longer? If it takes longer I know I can switch of the computer for a while. Doesn't make sense to keep it running with nothing to do except spin the wheel in the electricity meter. Thanks. ______ DeMus |

You cannot expect comms in the near future.........total bandwidth wiil be saturated for some time to come........take your chance on the spinnin' wheel.......Anakin was down for a day or so, and midday on Jan 1, the server status page showed anakin was running again, but the cricket graphs said otherwise. I have had one of my 5 hosts manage to get through, and another one is due to try again in 16 minutes, but it has been trying to upload two WUs for about an hour and a half now (0839 utc presently) with no avail. Bandwidth is saturated. You might get lucky, you might not. Things will settle out after a while though. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

Message on the Home page: Proof that those menu bars at the top and bottom are not working. Now remove them. Useless attribute on these forums anyway. Who ever uses them? ;-) |

Well, I did get lucky. Two WU's are in and others are coming. All my old and finished ones are gone. Yippie. We're back in business. Thanks guys. ______ DeMus |
