I have not received any work in a couple of months.
Every time BOINC tries to get new woprkk it keeps logging messages that there is no work from project.

When I check the status page the project looks like it is up and running.

Any idea what is going on?

I've looked at the most recent completed WU's of yours and they've got error messages.

<core_client_version>5.10.21</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process got signal 11
</message>
<stderr_txt>

</stderr_txt>
]]>

According to this post, it may be you need to reset project for seti and then reboot your sys to get it working again.

I tried you suggestion and I am still getting the "No work from project" messages.

Any other suggestion?

You are getting work, it's just that they are creating errors, and BOINC is limiting the work until you return valid WU's. At the moment you are putting out 4 error WU's a day.

It's possible an update of your version of BOINC could help. I've also read this error indicates a disk write or read error, which could be hardware realated, or it could also be a need for a library update according to other older threads I've read.

There is also a thread that mentioned a possible remedy using the optimized apps, which would also improve the times to complete the work.

One other thing I shoud mention though I haven't seen this as a direct cause would be the throtle cpu function, in your preferences if you have "Use at most X% of cpu time" set to anything other than 100% you should change that back to 100%

Since you are still returning errors I was looking around some more and also found this:

"Title: Process got signal 11
Author: Jorden
Views: 1123
Category: 06. BOINC Client Common Errors
Available in: English
Created: 12/09/2008 15:13:03
Last Modified: 12/09/2008 15:15:34

Contents:

This error can be caused by the infamous segmentation error (SIGSEGV error), meaning that something broke. be it your memory, virtual memory (page file) or it's a bad batch of tasks.

Check your system with memtest86+, make your page file anew, keep a tab on whether you're the only one returning these errors, or that others have them at the same time as well. If you are the only one, it's something on your system, if there are lots more, it's a bad batch of work.

But it can also happen when you use a 64bit operating system, while the project you're getting the crashes on only gives out 32bit applications (such as Einstein does). Installing the ia32 library package will fix this problem. See also process exited with code 22 which is a similar error, on the application level."

If none of the other suggestions have helped this may be something you should look into, since WU's you have had errors with have been returned successfully by others.

Good Luck

I will try to upgrade to a newer version of BOINC this weeknend.
I don't have the memtest86+ so I will grab that also.

If I am getting work why don't I see an indication of that in the logs?

BTW Einstein is the only project that is currently working.

I'm not sure why you're not seeing the work being downloaded in your BOINC Manager log. I assume your version also has the stdoutdae.txt file in the BOINC folder where you could also double check the log. You can see by your Tasks for computer page that you are getting work and returning them as errors, at the current rate of 4 a day.

The other project you have that you mentioned isn't working, is it attached to the Manager and if so is this project set to No New Tasks? I have to assume though if it is attached to the Manager and allowed new work, it might have the same problems as SETI , so it might be best to get SETI working and then see if the other follows suit.

Also did you check the setting for the cpu time in your preferences. Having that set to anything other than 100% in systems with more than one cpu has been known to cause errors and is worth looking into as well as the upgrade to a more current version of BOINC

Went and looked at your tasks at Cosmology@Home and they are getting the same "process got signal 11" error. I assume since you've still got one WU from 10 Nov 2008 , and since all the other ones you've done since 24 Oct have gotten the error, they appear to be limiting your new work too.

It is strange that you're able to do work at Einstein. I would have figured this would effect that project too. Even still I'm not convinced this isn't a library package issue.

I checked the preferences for the CPU and Number of processors and are both set to 100% on all projects.

I tried to run the latest version of BOINC and it will not run because it cannot find some of the libraries such as libXcomposite.so.1. I'm running Fedora Core 4 so there are probably other libraries missing for the newest version.

This leads me to think that I should upgrade the OS which is something I have been trying to do the past couple of years but have not had the time.

Then again if this is true then why is Einstein running but SETI is not?
I know that Cosmology has been having some problems and I just figured that the failed downloads were related to those issues.

For what it's worth I included is a small portion of the log below.

If this is the only then I guess I'm out of luck for now.

Yes, I think the upgrade of your OS and libraries and then BOINC is the way to go.

The log doesn't really show anything for SETI out of the ordinary. It's doing what is to be expected under the circumstances. Cosmology@Home seems to be having problems downloading what looks like a WU, and most likely the one I mentioned in the previous post. Doesn't appear to be what's causing the errors in the end, and probably why it hasn't errored out yet, since it hasn't gotten to your pc yet.
