This is a great tool to help understand where we are exactly in the Galaxy.....

.....use the zoom feature and keep track of the number of stars within that range from us.

This can have a very profound effect on one the first time you use it.
Brings things into perspective as to how "common" we are on a galactic scale.
Just one little dot among countless millions.

Think of the many civilisations that are most likely out there, right now.

I prefer to think of the Galaxy as an incubator to bring forth life.
