It seems like the 920 is overclockable, At least according what Coolaler(Famous Japanese overclocker) can sneak out without breaking any NDA He might be under: The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

There's more than one way to overclock without unlocking the multiplier. My guess is that since the Multiplier and Bus Speed portions are blotted out, that indeed he is changing the bus speed (not that its a "bus" anymore). I'm sure you can change the multiplier downward too, which is what most Core2s can do as well. |

2.93Ghz @ $562 US!? Guys, i think it is necessary to remind everybody that putting 731 millions transistors in a so small area does not happen easily ... I am not acknowledging the price, but it takes thousands of designers, 6 to 7 years of research in process technology, and hundreds of quality engineers to produce Core i7. On the top of this, you got to build few Billions dollars factories ... So, selling those parts at 120$ at the beginning in a nice dream, and AMD today's situation shows that it is only a dream, and does not work as a business model. You have to sell the high end parts higher to pay for the research. Got no choice. PS: This is my personal opinion, I am not talking for my employer. |

2.93Ghz @ $562 US!? That's Ok Who as It takes a lot of Who's to design complex stuff these days, Of course there's 32nm and 22nm to go and then what does Intel and other cpu makers do? As that sounds like the end of the line. Everything here is personal opinion, So It's Ok "Who?". The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Now it's dropped like a stone over the past 2 weeks it is roughly US$1 = NZ 50 cents... it was at one point not too long ago US$1 = NZ 86 cents.... that's a huge difference. I'm not denying that it's not an amazing piece of engineering... coz' it is. - Luke. |

If the Core i7 920 is overclockable I'll be getting the Asus P6T Deluxe OC Palm Edition mobo. I'm sure it will be overclockable - its just a matter if the multiplier is unlocked or not, but you can still up the QPI speed I'm sure (just like you can up the HyperTransport speed on AMDs). |

If the Core i7 920 is overclockable I'll be getting the Asus P6T Deluxe OC Palm Edition mobo. HyperTransport on AMD cpus can only go so far(I do have an Opteron 165 that clocks to between 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz on an MSIK8T Neo2-F MS-6702E v1.0), But in Intels cpu that might be different, It's too early to say yet, I'm going to get one of the 3 cpus, which I don't know yet and either the MSI Eclipse or the DFI LanParty X58 or maybe the Biostar motherboard, I really don't know yet, too little information is available right now to make a firm decision. I just found this review(more like an in depth preview to Me and 7 pages long, But no testing or overclocking) here(@ Tech ARP) on the Asus P6T Deluxe, It uses a Marvel chip for ide access instead of Jmicron and has jumpers for setting the max settings for the ram and the cpu, Plus the normally expected stuff while also having something New by using another Marvell Chip for SAS support(the Orange ports) that can in a pinch work as SATA ports, It's still too early, But It could be Asus, MSI or DFI(I've had good motherboards from all 3). You're welcome Luke. I also found this on the TechReport: Core i7, 45nm Phenom both make it over 4GHz Although what attracted Me to It was the i7 part, The socket AMD uses under the Phenom is not one I want to deal with anymore. And from the Softpedia there's this: http://news.softpedia.com/newsTag/X58 Which is chock full of Articles and such. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
