Which do you crunch more of SETI or folding? Or more generally, BOINC or folding? Why?

It seems like Folding@home is doing a lot more research than competitive projects such as Proteins@home, Rosetta@home, etc. I only have so many spare CPU cycles to grant, so I was wondering how you divide up your machines' time.

BOINC only. I can work on a large number of different projects under BOINC, and I don't feel the need to join any projects that are not BOINC.

Strictly BOINC here. I like the plethora of different sciences that can be done via a single framework.

Thanks for reminding me, I was going to switch 1 core over to Folding the other day but never got around to it. Just switched over.

Waiting till I upgrade my GPU to run their client, does it require one core devoted to managing it?

Hi everybody,

I have only ever crunched Seti. When Seti went Boinc, I went Boinc too, but I've only ever crunched Seti. I may explore other projects, if I manage to get some more systems on line, but for now, with only one, Seti is where I'll stay.

regards, Gizbar.

I am running SETI, Einstein, QMC, CPDN, CPDN Beta with equal shares of 100. I have downgraded LHC@home to a share of 10 since it has rarely work.

BOINC only. SETI mostly, some Einstein and LHC. That is all basic science. A dribble on a few other projects. Got PO'd at a couple because they set the deadlines so their W/U's only run in panic mode.

I'm a Seti guy. I run other boinc projects to help my team out.
But like Mark, I always return home.

I tried folding with my Core 2 duo, and after several weeks of crunching, I discovered that none were being accepted. I wasted much horsepower and 30 some folding units that would not return. When the cache of 10 was full, it rolled the oldest off, never to be seen again. I brought all back to boinc, einstein at the time, and am now back to seti with 3/4 of the garden.

Did a little Rosetta, but nothing there now.

100% Seti

Hey, is there a way to remove projects that I don't want to show up on my profile? I tried Einstein very briefly and would like to remove it from my profile, but haven't seen a way.

You could log into your Einstein account and change the e-mail it's linked to to something else, that should un-link them in a couple of days.
