can anyone tell me why my boinc screensaver just goes around and just underneath it says"BOINC is currently suspended"? what can i do to un-suspend it? i am currebtly running a seti@home project and there is another "ready to start", how do i make it start? or do i have to wait for the first one to be done? i want to be running the astropulse and/or the multibeam projects of seti@home, yet i think i am stuck on just the enhanced. is there anything i can do to switch to one or the other? |

Currently suspended means that it is not doing any work. Does it make progress when you look at the task in BOINC Manager? In any case, there are some settings to check. In the advanced view, Activity menu, there are three possible settings for use of the CPU. Run Always, Run based on preferences, and suspend. Which of these is selected? On the projects tab, click on SETI@Home (and each of the other projects listed). There is a button that says either "suspend" or "resume". This button shows that state that WILL be in effect IF THE BUTTON IS PUSHED. In other words for normal operation it should say "Suspend". On the tasks tab, click on each task in turn. There is a button that behaves in the same manner as the button described above in the projects tab. Now, switch to the web site -> your account -> Computing Preferences -> What are the settings under processor usage? BOINC WIKI |

can anyone tell me why my boinc screensaver just goes around and just underneath it says"BOINC is currently suspended"? what can i do to un-suspend it? What do you mean with "just goes around"? Can you post the messages from the messages log please, so we can also see what is happening on your system at this time (see if it's actually crunching or not). i am currebtly running a seti@home project and there is another "ready to start", how do i make it start? or do i have to wait for the first one to be done? BOINC can crunch one task per CPU or core. If you only have one CPU (with one core and no hyper threading), it'll run one task, when that one is completed it'll continue with the next. So it'll start when the current one is done. i want to be running the astropulse and/or the multibeam projects of seti@home, yet i think i am stuck on just the enhanced. is there anything i can do to switch to one or the other? Set in your project preferences which applications you want to run. Default both are on, as far as I know. They will only run with the stock applications, not when you have got an optimized Seti application (ask your team mates). |
