If all the bits haven’t arrived by the Sunday (my next day off of work) I’ll likely break down and do some assembly. :) keepin' my fingers crossed... just remember... a thin bead of AS5 inline with the CPU cores... thinner is better with a slight back & forth motion of the HSF to smear the AS5 a little. that AS5 really spreads out when you push down on the HSF mounting pins. Use 90+% isopropyl alcohol and a coffee filter to remove the factory gloop from the stock HSF and to prepare both HSF & CPU surfaces prior to mounting. g'luck, |

Still no computer bits. Next weekend at the earliest now. ARRRGHHHH! @ Mark, uli & Victor: we’re all nuts. The one thing all crunchers have in common is that we are all a little uncommon. Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

Patience Squirrell friend, all the nuts will be here when the bits bite. :) That is almost Zen. (Wax on, wax off. . .) Unfortunately, I am an atheist and I want my stuff NOW! :P Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

Patience Squirrel friend, all the nuts will be here when the bits bite. :) Well as Secret Squirrel said relax, You'll be able to gather all Your Nuts before winter gets here, My supplies will take longer and so I must be patient as I have a plan(It's not set in concrete as It were either as I'm flexible). Oh and while I'm not too religious(I almost never went to any church, Dad left It up to Me, I did try It a couple of times and I didn't seemed to fit in, I felt like a square peg near a bunch of triangle shaped holes, I never seemed to fit). But I am adaptable, I changed My diet(I'm trying to lose some weight while being permanently disabled) and I even changed what I wear Mostly(PM Me for more details If you're really curious as I don't want to freak out anybody that might be thinkin prudish thoughts about the human body(and mine in particular), mind You nothin bad or deviant Mac). Since you are going to use the rig purely for crunching, might I suggest buying a SSD instead of a regular HDD. a SSD (Solid State Drive) will have less storage capability, but 32 Gb should be more then enough for XP and Boinc projects. Pro's are much less energy consumption (lower electric bill!!, especially with a 24/7 system...) , much faster and quiet! The downside, it might be a bit more expensive, especially looking at the cost per Gb, but (as I said) you don't need all those Gbs for a cruncher.. Enjoy. ;-) Awwww, dude! 2 Corsair memory sticks! :))) @ S@NL - Eesger: good idea. . .for my next build. I already have the Seagate HDD bought and, this first time through, I want to keep it simple. Ok, how did you do that. I have a couple of spare power supplies, but I have not idea where the desk in the hallway is, or I'd leave one there too. |
