I'm getting the following error whenever my boinc tries to download a work unit: 25/08/2008 13:45:59|SETI@home|Started download of 08jl08ab.21506.22158.3.8.47 25/08/2008 13:46:01|SETI@home|Incomplete read of 4250.000000 < 5KB for seti_603.jpg - truncating 25/08/2008 13:46:01|SETI@home|Finished download of seti_603.jpg 25/08/2008 13:46:01|SETI@home|[error] Checksum or signature error for seti_603.jpg 25/08/2008 13:46:04|SETI@home|Finished download of 08jl08ab.21506.22158.3.8.47 I've tried manually pulling down the file but every time a work unit tries to download it removes the good file and generates that error again. Any ideas what's causing this? |

You can try to set your preferences to skip the image file verification. But just manually downloading and adding the file to the correct directory doesn't tell BOINC that the file is in. You'd also have to edit the client_state.xml file and tell in there that the file is in. It will need the md5 hash as well. In the end it should look something like this: <file_info> <name>sah_40.png</name> <nbytes>2536.000000</nbytes> <max_nbytes>0.000000</max_nbytes> <md5_cksum>5791ba1be2d33eaa5f90ecf5de89a53d</md5_cksum> <status>1</status> <url>http://boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu/sg_images/sah_40.png</url> </file_info> Yes, the example above is for another file, but it's just that: an example. if anyone who does have the file in can post that bit of information from their client_state.xml file, I'm sure JABarrett can get it fixed. |

I've tried manually pulling down the file but every time a work unit tries to download it removes the good file and generates that error again. One other thing... did you shut down BOINC between downloading the file manually and putting it in your Seti directory? Or did you do it with BOINC running? |

I've tried manually pulling down the file but every time a work unit tries to download it removes the good file and generates that error again. Thanks for the help, I shut down BOINC, manually downloaded the file then edited the status file and it's now working away perfectly. Might have something to do with the compression my carrier is putting on images (Vodafone Mobile UK). |

I'm getting the following error whenever my boinc tries to download a work unit: Do you connect via a mobile data network? I have used Orange and T-Mobile, and they both compress JPG files. I think all mobile/cellular networks probably do the same. If you can download a good copy of the file (9,068 bytes) then make it read only by right clicking and selecting. Then copy or move the file to the \Program Files\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu folder and you shoud download all the other files OK. Keith [edit] Read your other post, I see my guess was right, you use Vodafone. I think the option to skip image file verification does not work correctly, I have tried this in the past, and it did not work with BOINC 5.8 or 5.10 [/edit] |

I have tried every thing in these posts, and I am still getting the checksum error even after copying, xml editing and write protecting. Any ideas? |

I have tried every thing in these posts, and I am still getting the checksum error even after copying, xml editing and write protecting. Any ideas? The checksum error is different. On this web site -> Your Account -> Computing Preferences -> (network preferences section) Skip Image File Verification. Set this to YES. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

Thank you. I found that even though I set it on the accounts page, it did not populate out to the client. Once I checked the "skip verification" on the local client, the problem went away. |
