Message 795801 - Posted: 10 Aug 2008, 18:10:15 UTC - in response to Message 795567.

This cougar wanted me to see his face when I took this.

Good image.
Do you folk often resort to manual settings for some photos?
I have been playing around with night sky shots lately and find there is no way that auto will ever capture the stars, I must use manual.

enzed, manual settings work fine if you have a tripod to set the camera on but if you don't have a tripod then the sport setting works quite well. It will compensate for most hand shake movement and you can get some good shots. To get the stars though you will have to use the manual setting with aperture priority and set it for the longest exposure time you can. I don't have a tripod at this time as mine broke (I had it for about 10 years) so I don't use the manual setting much any more.

I want to thank you, SE, for starting this thread, and PaulDHarris for the New Photo Thread as well.

It is nice to see threads dedicated to photographic quality rather than quantity. Nice photos all.

Thank you Kenzie, I started this thread because I like to share my photos with others. It is a waste to have them and not share.

Hi
The multiple exposure are at noon today one was over exposed for the sky and ground and the other was underexposed for the building and I combined the two into one shot. This shot is the lower level of three. The upper level houses the Greyhound bus station. I don't know what the mid level is for and the ground level is for the Amtrak train.

Some very good photos there Richard. I like the perspective of the top one. Were you laying on your back to get it?

Those Mecklenburg Cops must be a lot nicer there than they were in 1972 the last time I was there at a Rolling Stones concert and spent the night in Mecklenburg County Jail after the cops beat up every body and gassed them.
