I used to be obsessed with T.V. Now I'm I'm obsessed with computers. I'm not sure which was worse.....

T.V. is much worse. (But then again, I'm a newly reformed addict; what do you expect me to say?) LOL

But that's the beauty of it! I realized that with all the computer movies, flash series, games, music, unmentionable downloads etc., you really don't need a TV any more to get yourself entertained.

I still watch quite a lot of T.V. i just use the DVR so I can fast forward through the commercials and the programs magically shrink down by about 30mins.

Hi, Mr. M

Sunny morning, isn´t it?

Well, it is morning here, but it isn't sunny yet :) It's only 3:09AM here!

Gosh! 3:09 AM! Right now it's 7:11 PM 24 July over here!

Luke.

Oh! Hi Luke!!! :]]

Sorry, didn't see you when I posted. :]

I am 'celebrating' my first full week of abstinence. I'm going to save a ton of money if I Can break this addiction full-time.

No need to apologize my friend! My post was slightly after yours.

One full week! Gosh. Go, Go, Beets!
I can better that by saying: "I haven't had sleep for a week!" Gosh my new cat is crazy. He's only finally learned that night is 'Sleep Time'.

How's your cat Beets?

Luke.

Tippy "the Cat from Hell" is having lots of fun! After her teats grew three times as long as they were and reddish around their base, I was expecting a litter any day now. But it hasn't happened! I'm mean, her belly is no larger than it was before. I'm starting to think that ugly male hybrid shot blanks.

So, I let her go out most of the day, and now we get along fine. LOL

About breaking my addiction. I've gone without television for a week now! My cable company just got too darn greedy. I've been having withdrawal symptoms, but I think it's going to be good for me to pass COMPLETELY on the "Boob Tube".

Anyway, all I can say is: HOORAY!!!

I get most of my Television on the Internet now. Ever since my broadband came along...

Cable's equivalent in NZ is "Sky TV" it provides about 100 channels when all put together. And it costs how much???? Up to $250 NZ ($200 US) a month....

I can see why you quit it Beets....

Luke.

Yep, we've got to start teaching those greedy pr***s a lesson by boycott!

When I'm in the mood for watching movies, for example, I just pick up a batch of used DVDs. For under $30 total, I just picked up

- Tristan & Isolde
- Next of Kin
- North Country
- Natalie
- The Last King of Scotland

not bad, eh?

Sounds kinda like my uncle, only he's not smart enough to wait and let em' go on sale. Instead he rather pay $30 bucks a movie just to get it "new". I don't get it, but hey, it's his money.

Too True Beets. I think eventually TV's will evolve into a Media type PC.

A fair line up of DVD's you got there Beets.
All of them have a good rating on IMDB. 7.8/10 for The Last King of Scotland. Should be quite good!

Luke.

Heh. Thanks!

It's part of my remaining addiction that I like to check out the TV guide online and laugh about all the junk they're charging other people for close to $100/month. I get a kick out of it! LOL

LOL!

Sky seems to have:

7 Sports Channels
4 Movie Channels (Hmmm... wouldn't mind that though! But not at the cost of $80 Per Month!)
And about 90 Other Channels that no one ever uses.

Luke.

EDIT: Good Night Beets! This has been a good chat we've had!

Good Morning, Dan!!! :]]

I think a lot of people feel that way, but they don't pull the plug and quit paying for TV. For a lot of people living alone it's company of sorts, hearing human voices. But I'd tell them that they always have at least one cable channel on to suck people into buying stilll more channels than they already have..so if it's mere company you want, you won't lose that by quiting your cable/satellite provider. :]]

It's going to be a hot summer day around here. WHOOPEE!!!

How's your weather, Dan?

That's nice walking weather, except for the rain of course. I never mind getting caught in a summer rain; it's so pleasantly warm. :]]

I have given the flowers water, and taken care of some guests.. and at 7.30 this morning i was over to another of our buildings to take grossery delivery from the truck from mainland.. but much of it was lost on the way..hehe. I wonder who has taken care of all the fruit and vegetables during night ;-)) Right now i need something cold to drink..

How nice that drink looks! Is it really only water? :]]

How quickly the weather changes: I went out to the local convenience store and a huge downpour of rain fell on me. I look like one wet kitten! LOL

All that fruit gone overnight? I hope it wasn't the giant fruit-fly that raided you guys last night!

Good to see you, Moon of my Moon!!! All's well now, more or less?

This just in....

Brittons feel the Knife Keenly

Reports today's The Daily Express:

"ONE terrible fact leapt out of the crime figures published by the Government last week: a knife attack takes place in Britain once every four minutes on average. There were 129,840 violent attacks involving a knife last year – more than 350 a day. The stark numbers bring shock and surprise – surprise that the Government has little idea what to do about them"...

It may seem Draconic, but general deterrence appears to work. Lord Carmont rocked the underworld of Glasgow in the 1950s when he began handing out long sentences for knife crime. He nearly single-handedly wiped out that method of crime. A lesson from history?
