Just when you get the coffee ready it's time for another beer!

Coffee and beer just don't mix............

Time for a coffee again. This is getting confusing!

I'll have a cup too please and thank you....

. . . Exquisite Pastries

The atayef is a light chewy pancake filled with kaymak (a curd-cheese),

with a texture like fresh mozzarella cheese, sprinkled with chopped pistachios

and a red preserved fruit of some sort and drizzled with rose water syrup.

What a magnificent dessert!

The ma'mul has a rich butter pastry which almost crumbles in your mouth. It's barely held together by the smooth date puree filling with the occasional chunk of date flesh.

Perfect with a strong cup of black coffee! or cafe latte . . . or espressO

Atayef/ataif (front) and Date Ma'mul/Mamoul

Baklava is one of the oldest known Turkish desserts. Its popularity goes back to the time of Sultan Mehmet of the Ottoman Empire.

Today, no traditional Turkish meal would be complete without baklava for dessert. Gulluoglu is Turkey’s cherished brand of baklava

- flaky layers of whisper-thin pastry bursting with pistachios, touched with golden butter, gently enveloped in a honey syrup.

Coffee goes so perfectly with that Baklava. Although, I'm more used to the true Greek variety that's a bit heavier on the honey. :-)

Thanks for the treats folks!
