I signed up with idarionis , bought some extra credits and started clicking for UAE Res', Moon, Eagle, Uli and TFFE. I made 500 clicks and tried to distribute them as follows... UAE Residents City...40% and 15% each to the remaining four. I haven't quite got it sorted yet. I have checked the number of +Pops on the Cities which of course isn't the total number of clicks but as near as I can figure... UAE Residents got approximately 60% of my clicks. Moon received approx. 10% Eagle................25% Skofus..............5% and TFFE perhaps only 5 clicks. I'm still working on it. If you all sign up then we will really be able to turn these Mini-Cities into Mega-Cities. Join the #1 UAE Team. |

Whiskey UAE is growing at a good clip. :) Thanks Eagle. The world financial crisis is now starting to affect the GCC nations, not because of the "Sub-Prime" Mortgage farce affecting the National Banks but because of the downturn in tourism. The hotel occupancy here has been higher than 90% for a decade and more and Emirates Airline has had the highest passenger/flight rate and growth rate of any airline. Tourism dropped off by 1.4% last month and bookings for Christmas are down by almost 4%. The increase in the cost of building materials and labour is pushing up the cost of building new properties and hence slowing the property market which has been booming for 12 years. The Emirates are not so much affected by the fluctuation of the price of crude oil anymore; the forward thinking Rulers here have got the dependency on oil revenue down below 30% of GNP. Unlike Saudi who are still 99% dependent on oil revenues. The price of refined Petro-Chemical products is rising however which is affecting the economy as a whole. There are some very worried property investors here and there are now plans to move down market and start building 3 star "Economy" hotels to attract cheaper tourist packages. GAAWD help us. They did the same thing in Cyprus after President Reagan killed tourism in there 1986. All they succeeded in doing was ruining Cyprus, increasing the tourist crime rate and attracting devious "Rip-Off" property developers. On the up side. More than a decade ago the UAE started an environmental project to clean up the Gulf waters and protect the marine environment. They have levied heavy fines on ships pumping their bilges into the Gulf waters and impound ships for environmental polution. They impose heavy fines on divers for taking coral souvenirs and anyone caught dumping rubbish in the sea. The coastal and under-water environment of the UAE coast is now thriving, particularly within the fronds of the new Palm Islands; so much so that other nations are now studying the project and reaping the benefits of the UAE's efforts. Hooda thunk that the Ausies would come to Dubai to study Arab methods and employ them to protect and preserve their reefs! Please givvuz a click grovel, grovel, implore, beseech, plead, beg! Many thanks for the bumps chaps. I'm now back in my own nest. The climate is very nice, this is one of the more pleasant times of the year. The Emirates have just had the first rainfall of the winter and of course, as usual, all warnings about driving too fast and too close were ignored resulting in multiple multi-vehicle pile up's. Warnings were also ignored regarding driving in "Wadi's", dry river beds which double as vehicle/camel tracks. Flash floods caused a few more deaths. I remember in 1980 in Saudi Arabia, the worst rainfall in decades on the Tabouk Plateau. The flash floods down the Wadi's from the plateau (2,700ft altitude) to the Red Sea coast, burst the wadi's, wiped out bridges and Bedouin villages and items as big as Toyota trucks and Honda generators were found as far as 7 miles down river. Hello Whiskey... Burj Dubai is going to look superb when it is finished, can't be long now! Yes, but photo's and video's don't do it justice. You have to see it to appreciate what a phenomenal construction it is. I just hope that they will build enough car parking spaces, something that they forget here. Many of the sky scrapers in Dubai don't have enough car parking slots for the residents and visitors. The internet connection problem is slightly better today. Etisalat, the National ISP, are working hard to try and re-route traffic and buy bandwidth from Asia to get around the damaged Mediterranean cable but the bad news is that it will be at least three days before the cable is repaired. This is the second time in 10 months that the same cable has been broken. I have been trying to download this months Grand Prix magazine for two days, it's only 6MB and I just can't stay connected long enough to get it all. My connection drops out frequently.
