An excellent notification Ulli.

The only petrol powered opposition, as shown in the Le Mans 24 during 2006 and 2007 was Pescarolo Sport.

It is hoped that the first 6 places will be diesel super cars (Audi and Peugeot). But, clearly the Peugeot Sport Teams want them to be first, second and third to show the Audi R10 there is diesel opposition that can beat them.

It will be awesome Saturday to Sunday.

As a fan of Audi for many years, there is only going to be one winner come Sunday afternoon.

I wouldn't disagree SATAN.

Either way diesel power will show the competition their legs, assuming their reliability stays as shown during the last 2 years and nobody crashes out in any of the 3 cars each team are using.

Ohhh, I had totally forgot about the Le Mans race, thanks for reminding me. :-)

I read in a newspaper a few weeks ago that it was questionable if Tom Kristensen would drive this year, so I'm happy that he's in the race.

So far the Peugeots are doing the best, they lead in the three leading places so far in the initial races.

What happened at the Sebrig 12 hour?

Audi raced there for the last 2 years, as a warm up before the Le Mans, and I had assumed Peugeot would be there as well?

At this time the first 5 places are diesel only, with the Peugeots leading slightly. The last diesel Peugeot was currently 7th.

So the lead petrol is TeamOreca Matmut, at 6th, and the Pescarolo Sport in 9th place.

But, very early days and all to play for!!

Over 1,000 miles racing has been covered so far.

The Oficial Web Site (link given by Ulli, below) only looks at the first 10 places, and neither of these teams are mentioned there.

Looks like the first 6 places are all diesel now, and Peugeot number 1 ATM with well over 1100 miles under their belt

Looks like Ulli came up trumps again, with this link showing the Corvette and Aston class

and this link gives all classes, so you can see the relative position to those classes to their race positions

Well, the Peugeot's have had a hard time finishing the race, so we will see about their state this year, there's a long time to the end of the race.

So, at the moment Tom Kristensen is driving Audi 2, only 65 seconds after the leading Peugeot.

Go Tom, go!

The first 5 places are still firmly with diesel - Peugeot; Audi; Peugeot; Audi; Audi - and the third Peugeot is currently lying 9th. See this link

The leader has now covered over 1,500 miles in under 10 hours, and lapping at an average of well over 150mph.
