I've had Boinc running SETI on my current computer for a month. It has been running normally, and I am sure of my settings - the current settings have been as they are for at least the last two weeks. My problem is that some time in the last few days I have stopped receiving new work units. I have it set to report at least once every 5 days and to keep a 10 day buffer of work. On this PC, that means I should have a work buffer of approximately 320 work units. (quad core, 1 work unit finishes in just under 3 hours) There are 13 work units waiting to run, and updating the project does not bring in new work units... Help? |

Your cache settings are too high. Your computer is overloaded with work and thinks it will not finish in time so it refuses to accept more until it can manage what it has. Keep your cache settings to something more realistic and reasonable. Such as if you have a broadband connection, keep the "Connect to the internet ever" to zero and "Cache and additional X days of work" to something like 3 or 4 days, or less if you run multiple BOINC projects. |

It has been running normally, and I am sure of my settings - the current settings have been as they are for at least the last two weeks. If this is on your Quad it must not be running 24/7 so the setting would be too high. I see this about that computer..."Average turnaround time 22.57 days" Mine are set to 7 days but my turn around time is closer to 7 days. You are pushing the deadlines it would seem. I've had Boinc running SETI on my current computer for a month. It has been running normally, and I am sure of my settings - the current settings have been as they are for at least the last two weeks. I've got it figured out now. There were a number of work units in my log that had the same date (and nearly the same time) and it came close to not completing the last few of them before the deadline. They did all complete on time, and as soon as the last one finished my cue filled up again. Thanks for the input. EDIT: More clarification. I had been away from home and my power went out. My UPS shut down my PC and it was off for a few days, pushing back a number of work units, so the system freaked out about when they would be completed. |

I am having the same problem for the last two days- My guess is that there are still problems for Mac users to get work, as stated on the Seti@Home frontpage: July 22, 2008 Apple/Mac computers have been unable to get new workunits since yesterday - we're working on this bug. The Seti crew is probably still working on it. See also the Technical News for more informations and for any progress on this. HTH Andy |

In the interim, I would suggest attaching a second project. There are lists on the main BOINC page, BOINC Synergy, BOINC Stats, and other sites. BOINC WIKI |
