To be fair there, his defence would be he only SAID he was going to do that, he wasn't actually caught in the act. I haven't yet had to use physical violence against anyone abusing an animal, but if I found someone kicking a cat or dog to death I wouldn't hestitate, however big they were. I'll stop there as I could go on. It's my achilles heel which I have no intention of apologising for.

Don't apologize on my behalf....I have very similar feelings.....
It has been documented many times that people who abuse other human beings many times started out by abusing defenseless animals......
I guess that's part of why I keep promoting the adoption of the shadow kitties from the shelters (I guess I could repost my poem about 'shadow kitties'....).
If some do not like cats, I can understand and accept that, but to abuse them is a different issue and really gets my dander up.....

Ahhh...here it is.....my poem about 'shadow kitties' that I wrote and posted about 3 months ago...........





I am sorry folks........
But my kitty muse got the best of me and I wrote another kitty poem......
I hope that all who are not so kitty-esqe will forgive me.....please.

The shadow kitties...by msattler.....


There are some in the hours twixed the mornin' and moonin'
that sometimes have thoughts 'bout little critters all gloomin'.
The little feets that silently crawl in the darkness
and don't have a place that's their home just like ours is.

It's the little paws I'm talking 'bout to you here today folks,
The little paws sneaking about in the darkness.
The kitties who have all long since abandoned their safe nest
and are left all alone to sneak 'round in the darkness.

You don't hear them them cry and you seldom hear them whimper
But the kitties that hide all alone in the winter
are always there to hear if you but give a close listen...
Those kitties who's lives start out as a lost kitten.

They are cute, so they say, when seen walking the street.
Those little cute kittens walking 'bout on little feet.
But the truth soon it dawns on those litte cute paws
'cuz they have no home to call theirs like we all have ours.

So they wander and try to come up with a meal
and try to find someplace where maybe they'd feel
that THIS is the place where they maybe belong
and perhaps they could stay here their whole happy life long.

But alas they soon find out that it just isn't true,
and they don't have a home, not like me, not like you.
They are just homeless kitties, far away from their nest.
And have no place left to call home like the rest.

If your heart has a soft spot like I know that my own does,
perhaps you could find a warm spot for one of these poor homeless...
A kitty asks little from you in return friend,
for a warm spot to sleep and some kibble they'd earn and,

They'd luv you so much in return for their keeping
that nowhere on earth could you ever be sleeping
with a heart true and loving like a kitty that you've kept
from sleeping out there all alone in the darkness....

The shadow kitties, I'm afraid they will always be out there.
Waiting for someone like you to and I to give their care.
They won't knock your door, and they won't call your phone,
but the shadow kitties wait out there, and they're all alone.

If you've ever walked past a li'l kitten lookin' at you in the silence
and wondered why it is they've no home like yours is and mine is,
Take time once to ponder a life that's a bit tragic
and think how you could make their little lives a bit magic.

The shadow kitties are waiting for you in the shelters.
They yearn for a life much like mine is and like yours is.
No more sleeping in corners hidden 'way in the darkness,
But a warm spot to cuddle up with you in a safe nest.

I know I have expressed my love of kitties many times from the start,
but I walked past one yesterday that just broke my heart.
She was sittling there all by herself in the cold snow,
and could not understand a little love I would show.

As I held out to her little cold paws with my hand
and wanted to love her, she could not understand.
So run off she did, back alone to who where knows..
To shiver and cry all alone in the shadows.

Our lives are so much longer than the life of a kitten,
And they give back so much consid'ring what they are given.
Please ponder a life of in the world of the shadows.
And what you could give kitties with the love you and I know.

Please save a shadow kitty........

While I slept last night, a raccoon broke through a screen door to get at some cat food that we have stored for a stray cat. My wife walked into the kitchen & there he was climbing up the side of the cabinet to get at the food. She scared it so bad he was peeing all over the place.

Where was our cat? Cowering in the corner.

We need a dog! A big dog. Sorry msattler.

Miaow! Miaow! I have discovered that, although one may be able to wedge his body through the gap behind the stove and into that little drawer filled with pots and pans, the reverse path is slightly more difficult to navigate.
Mraakk! Oh, small bird! Please come over here.
Ssssroww! I believe that I have found a woodchuck or similar animal.
Mmmrowmmm It is certain that the best tasting fish is one you have caught yourself.
Mmmmmmm If I sit in the sunshine for another hour or so, I think I shall be satisfied.

LOL! That's about right....

Technology & Kitties:

1. Sit on lap of master when he is at his computer, and push the keys on the keyboard when he is typing posts .....afwmgn,rypule5l..... to annoy him.
2. Leap up onto desk and walk all over brand new laptop and cover with kittie fur to make master put you on the floor, then start hiding in wardrobe and master will feel sorry and pet you.
3. Bat at computer mouse as much as possible.
4. Steal computer volume control remote and hide it in a dark small place.
5. Jump at computer screen when master is away cooking and laptop is crunching peacefully. Let out a mrrrrraaaeeeeoooowwwwwwwww and master will come and feel sorrow for you and you will be pampered all night long
6. When possible, throw up hairballs on laptop or if you can't make it, computer hardware strewn around.
7. When master is reading PC Authority magazine, jump up from behind it into the cover, master will be shocked.
8. Get tangled in Ethernet cords... master will help, and in freeing you, break internet connections by accidentally unplugging cords... leap away into mess and watch as master curses wired internet.....

Yeah...it's hard to resist those big kitty eyes looking at you whilst you are enjoying your snack.....
They are usually good kitties, and sit there waiting for me to pick off a couple of choice bits for them to snack on......but Squirrel the elder will sometimes wait until my eyes are diverted to the computer monitor and casually reach her paw out to try to snag one by herself.........

And that's the difference between cats and dogs. My dog will wait until the youngest, who's 2, has food, especially string cheese. Buddy will just take it from him. No begging, no sneakiness, just brute force. He knows better than to try that with me. All it takes is a look from me, and he goes and lays down. He knows who the alpha male is...my wife.

No....I don't think my efforts hardly merit that......hardly enough for a book anyway....maybe a small pamphlet....

Really though, my modest tries at being poetic amount to the 5 or 6 little poems that I have written and shared with you all here on Seti...nothing else.

I am not sure I even have copies saved on my own computer of all of them...and I don't know if one could even find them all here anymore, as at least one or two are more than a year old, and that is a far as the search lets you look, as far as I am aware....that, and some of the old threads that have been deleted over the past months.....

I never know when my muse will strike me.....I just wake up in bed once in a long while with some special kitty thoughts running through my head (aside from the usual kitty thoughts), and enjoy sharing them with you.
