Message 760897 - Posted: 30 May 2008, 22:39:36 UTC - in response to Message 760887.

You received the PM now? People have been talking about it for months, Mark, and I told you.

Sarge....although I respect your opinions....I do not agree with them, nor do many others.....

Don't tread on me....thank you.

And that's the problem, right there.

First, I did not tread on you. (Nor cats, for that matter, as I will not trash the memory of our family cat, Lilly, part of our lives for 17 years from 1974 to 1991.)
Second, due to either absurd responses or absurd policies, sometimes a point must be expressed in a veiled manner. Do you REALLY think I was suggesting recently that long threads cause a drain on the S@H servers, making it hard for Eric and company to find ETI? Ha! Take a DEEPER look at what I say (well, most of what I say --- sometimes, it really is just humor) before talking about whether you or the community at large agree with my opinions.
Third, my opinions are not the issue here. I told you around Thanksgiving that people were complaining about your kitty threads. This was truthfully stated and has nothing whatsoever to do with my opinions.
Fourth, I am sure the people complaining about the kitty threads are now either grousing over the fact that you have begun another one or sitting back having a laugh as you react to it as if it is some sort of crisis.
Finally, if you really thought you were being "tread on," I do think you need at least a few hours worth of a break from posting (perhaps reading, as well) from the boards.
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

Either you have nothing else to complain about, or you are speaking on behalf of somebody who does.......

Either way......this is a non-issue.....unless you want to pick up on some other issue to complain about......it happens to be a common topic in the cafe......and involves many other users.......I am not the only one here talking about cats..........look at the number of reads to the threads....and the responses.......I do not generate the replies.............................

Well Sarge....the simple fact that you feel a need to talk about 'kitty threads' means one of a few things.......

Either you have nothing else to complain about, or you are speaking on behalf of somebody who does.......

Wrong and wrong. Who's the one complaining about something here? Certainly not me. It is as simple as my original post: I told you others were complaining about it 6-7 months ago.

Now, since you are continuing to post in a confrontational manner and not heeding my suggestion, it is I that will take a break.

Either way......this is a non-issue.....unless you want to pick up on some other issue to complain about......it happens to be a common topic in the cafe......and involves many other users.......I am not the only one here talking about cats..........look at the number of reads to the threads....and the responses.......I do not generate the replies.............................

(Included in the post because obviously you haven't read a single word, or at least understood, in my previous post in this thread. Have a nice night and don't shoot too many turkeys.)

It's all good........just a simple misunderstanding....on my part.....

I overreacted......

Geez, I am so defensive when it comes to kitties.......

Guess it comes down to when somebody was gonna kill one in front of me when I was a kid, and I took it in the back (just a pellet gun, but it hurt) to save the kitten..........

I think Sarge missed your post here.

Ok, it comes down to this, I will try and take a stance of NPOV (Nuetral Point of View) for this post:

Reasons for me backing the kitty-man:
1. Mark is a great guy, he always helps people when they need help.
2. What's this? A Green Star? Oh yea, I think that means he has spent some of his 'investments' helping the project. Don't repay him by complaining (Please do not take this offensively, people, lots of people for lots of reasons can't donate, I had a reason a few weeks ago)
3. Two of Mark's Eight threads, are dedicated to kitties.
4. Everyone has there own personalities, Mark likes cats (so do I), please respect this.
5. Ok, 2 of Mark's threads are kittie-dedicated, lets see how many threads can fit on two pages.... 100 - that means that 2% of the threads are kittie-dedicated. Woah, amazing number, 2%!!! So large!!!!
6. Don't read the threads you don't like. So Simple.

Best Regards to all,
Luke.

Finally, if you really thought you were being "tread on," I do think you need at least a few hours worth of a break from posting (perhaps reading, as well) from the boards.

... and yet, there are quite a few people posting in the kitty threads who clearly enjoy them.

What is the solution? Do we start polling for "permissible" thread subjects? Is there some percentage of the population that has to object before a subject becomes forbidden? Is it 10%, or 50% plus one? Do those who like a topic get to vote?

I think the "last person to post" threads are silly -- where should I complain?

What about the whole "Linux vs. Windows" battle that rages fairly routinely, shouldn't that be kept to the "politics" section?

Seems like a small issue, Sarge.

I think this is becoming a drama over nothing...everyone is talking at crossed purposes and i don't think Sarge is even saying he has anything against the kitty threads himself. In other words..i don't know what everyone is getting so worked up about.

Too true, and as I just noted, 2% of the 'active' threads are kitty-dedicated. Gosh, it's a huge number, isn't it?

And I retire for the hour, this has made me very angry, I better cool off... cya all soon...

Best Regards,

I think this is becoming a drama over nothing...everyone is talking at crossed purposes and i don't think Sarge is even saying he has anything against the kitty threads himself. In other words..i don't know what everyone is getting so worked up about.

My point exactly.

A little bit off topic. I used to work for a company that had a softball team.

Now, the company (or at least our part of it) was small, most of the people who worked there were on the team. We had two people who were friends for years who shared the team captain slot, and all was fine.

We had a new guy, he wanted to be team captain, and they decided to have an election.

There was campaigning, and hard feelings and friends who were no longer speaking over the whole foolish mess.

So, I admit it, I decided that something had to be said -- so I stuffed the ballot box.

25 employees and they got 85 ballots back.

Why? Because everyone was being so silly about nothing.

-- Ned

P.S. I put in 20 ballots for each of the three candidates. I didn't actually cheat. When confronted, my boss lied and said "I have no idea who might have done that." He had a really good idea, and saw the humor in it.

{snip]

Ned you can complain directly to the thread management by posting in the thread.

Your complaint will be given due consideration and be presented to the thread management committee at their next meeting, and a fair resolution will be sought.

In recognition of your valuable input you will recieve:

1..A thank you note.
2..A Birthday greeting on your birthday
and
3 ..A Christmas card.

Also if you carefully time your complaint post you could WIN.
