Well....whatever........thank you for pointing out my error, Crm.....
I may have renamed it x64 in my ignorance........
Point being, there are TWO 'program files' folders in x64.....
Don't transport your Boinc folder to the exotic x64 folder.....it don't help....

"Program Files" for 64 bit.
"Program Files(x86) for 32 bit.
Get it backwards and... well, you know what happens.

It's all good.....and this new vintage 42h1292 feels like I was a teeny again.....luv it!!!!!!!
Nothing like a clicky............the feel is just unbelievable........'soft touch' my butt.............

(The youngsters here will not understand..).

I have a Unicomp 42H1292U hooked up to a KVM for three of my crunchers.
I returned to the buckling spring fold last year after many years in the world of membrane keyboards.

It was like getting an old friend back.

Perhaps if the youngsters gave one a try, the light bulb would light up for them too. There is no substitute.

Glad to hear things were not as serious as originally thought...

My wife can spot "my computer frustration" pretty quickly..
she comes in and puts a hand on my shoulder and says,
"Step away from the computer now!!!"

most times i go to a notebook and make a list of what i think the problem might be.
if'n i'm really ticked off i'll fix some vanilla ice cream and drizzle Kahlua or Grand Marnier over it. i quickly forget the progam and sleep really well that night.

I had a similar problem on a Gigabyte board and an Asrock with Crucial Ballistix DDR2 6400 RAM. After resetting the BIOS the box would not boot.

My Theory:
After a while runnning at the rated fast timings and increased voltage this RAM seems to require more voltage than the standard default 1.8 volts.

My Fix:
Try a 1 stick of generic DDR2 memory, real 1.8 volt stuff.

Once you have access to the BIOS crank up the volts on the RAM (to 2.2v in the case of my sticks) and shut down. Stick the Crucial memory back in and reboot.

No guarantees, but it worked for me twice.

I have since changed RAM brand in the Gigabyte box, but the Asrock continues to use the Crucial Ballistix.

He's going to try that and a different psu, although He did say He was going to throw different parts at It. I don't know what brand of ram He has or anything else, outside of the motherboard(a P5K Deluxe) that is.

You got it sussed...........
The best booting ram is the fastest at the lowest voltage.........used to be able to get some 3 stuff at 1.9v or less........hard to find nowadays......I figger it was hand picked.......

But in my case....even with the bios tweaked to 2.3v, things just won't crank up from scratch with the faster ram.....

Slower with faster timings is the best I have found........

I'd do that on PC1(P5W DHD), But I'm limited by Asus and the Bioses lack of adjustable multiplier above stock, I could try a few newer ones of course, But 2302 works pretty good, for the P5KD I'll eventually have to get a 4GB flash stick.
