I'll keep that in mind KM... thanks. Was just playing with the kitties and we had a moment- nieca and athena synchronized spring jumping - ( not intentional but totally kewl ) of course neither of them caught the feather I was teasing them with. You know- those feathers on the rope- like a simple fishing pole. With the laser light chasing- I have noticed one thing- No matter how crazy they get about chasing and pouncing it ( well trying to ) They will not pounce when it's set on one of the others. not sure if this is out of respect or what- they just won't pounce when it's shown on of them. I don't get this because typically at any given moment- there's no telling when one of them will pounce another. Sunshine is usually the pouncee while the other two are instigators. That is until she spies one of them going after her toy worm. She will spring from across the room and get'em. Then, she'll play with the toy a bit before returning to what she was doing- or comes to me looking for attention. Ya'll have a good night- I'm turning in and hopefully the kitty folk will too. I'll keep that in mind KM... thanks. I have also noticed the same affect... My two kitties will go craaaazy at the laser... except when it's on the other kitty.... Do the pointer lasers hurt kitties eyes? My laser is red.... - Luke. |

Lasers can be harmful to the eye....... Human for sure, and I would assume kitty eyes as well..... But as long as you are not shining it into kitty's eyes directly or trying to shine it in their eyes to tease them, I am sure that laser playtime is OK.... With the laser light chasing- I have noticed one thing- Mongo has absolutely NO issues with pouncing on the laser light when I put it on the dog. :-) Air Cold, the blade stops; from silent stone, Death is preordained Calm Chaos Forums : Everyone Welcome |

I have been "lurking" in this thread for a while and thought it might be time to introduce "Spitty". She has a story, back in 1998 I had a female friend who always had a cat, and she was always on at me to get one, I was more of a "dog" person as we had dogs at home when I was growing up. However I live on my own in a small flat, apartment to those in the US. It is not suitable for any pet, there is no direct access to "outside" so I always told her no. Then on December the 23rd 1998 my friend died tragically, and I knew straight away that she would have wanted me to look after her cat. She got her name "Spitty" as she was a recent addition to the household that already had two dogs,so she spent most of her time spitting at them. Anyway she came to live with me, she has to be a "housecat" as I work and she only ventures out when I come in, then not far, sometimes she doesn't even bother. She was about 5 months old when I got her, so she will be 10 this year. She seems happy, joins me on the bed each night with her paws resting on any part of me not covered and would sit on my lap all night. Here are a few pictures Looking down the stairs at the outside world. Her favorite sleeping spot! on top of the microwave An older pic. Every morning when I get up and throw back the duvet she jumps onto the warm spot in the bed, she wants a bit of attention here!! Thanks for looking. Bernie |

good for you.. and cas are extremely adaptable- my crew doesn't go outside; although they do have fresh air with the balcony door being opened in the spring to summer time. And of course it's a laugh a momement when the birds or the squirrel come to the balcony. The squirrel scales down the apartment building wood accents from the roof- he aparently lives in the roof with two other squirrels. And of course it's a laugh a momement when the birds or the squirrel come to the balcony. Jake sez, "Squirrels are fun, but if you really want some serious entertainment, try teasing and staring down a woodpecker in a feeder sometime. You owe it to yourself." |

And of course it's a laugh a momement when the birds or the squirrel come to the balcony. LOL.......watching a kitty chittering away at a bird that is just beyond reach on the other side of a window is indeed amusing..... At least to us, maybe not to kitty...... At least to us, maybe not to kitty...... That feeder is a fancy-arsed one that fits inside and fills an entire window. (A royal pain in the ankle 2 joints up to install, make secure, and weather proof) It has a "2-way-mirror" type coating on the plexiglass so Tweety and company just see themselves, but from inside, you get a great view of the birdies. Jake has a short kitty tower in front of the feeder, just the right height to do some up close bird watching. It only took about three head bumpin' pounces before he learned that brute force wasn't going to get him out, or them in. Still, from on top the tower, a guy can let a fair number of birds accumulate in the feeder, then give the glass a good swat to see the feathers fly. |

Our cat is so lazy, bugs die of natural causes in our home! We have to roll our cat over regularly to keep her from getting bedsores! |

Our cat is so lazy, bugs die of natural causes in our home! We have to roll our cat over regularly to keep her from getting bedsores! I can relate to that. A few years ago, when Sas first showed up, and it became apparent he wasn't going to leave, I set him up temporary quarters in the garage until I could get a vet appointment, complete with litterbox, water, and food. That evening I went down to see how he was doing. As I entered the garage I saw Sasquatch laying on top of the tool bench, and at least 4 mice making a hasty retreat from his food dish. Sas gave them a disinterested glance and stood up and stretched, looked at me and meowed. I think the meow translated to "Dude, if I'm going to live here you really need to do something about the vermin." (Before Sas would authorize this post, I had to agree to put up one of his 'tough guy' pictures) |
