Can't seem to connect..

I'd kinda forgotten about it until I got an email a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd install BOINC and see how it went. I had it installed on my desktop running Windows XP, and then I pulled everything and installed debian linux. Ever since, I haven't been able to get a work unit to process. I downloaded BOINC on my wife's XP laptop, and that's a no-go as well. I've tried on several different networks with and without firewalls, so I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas?? ID: 744545 ·

If you don't did you by accident set up BOINC to use a proxy, or your internet connection to use one? Check in BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Advanced->Options->HTTP proxy what you got set there. If you have still got work from Seti, or you also have work from Einstein, then this is normal. BOINC works on a by debt basis, if one project has taken up a lot of CPU, BOINC will pay that time back to the other project. During this time it won't get work from the project with the highest positive debt. Just leave it be, BOINC will eventually grab work from Seti again. ID: 755355 ·

I used the suggested contained in the 4 May 2008 post below and it resolved the problem which seems to be associated with the use of the HTTP Protocol version 1.1 rather than version 1.0. To force BOINC to use HTTP 1.0 do as follows: Create a cc_config.xml in your BOINC folder with the following contents: <cc_config> <options> <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> </options> </cc_config> Restart BOINC (reboot is easiest) for them to take effect Hope this helps any one else having similar problems and thanks to those who made the initial suggestion.
