LOL...no, the farm stays in the kitties' posession........
Just the RAC will transfer to the high team bidder.........
One thing I have not seen -
How long will the farm remain with the highest bidding team ???
And if "future donations" are accepted, how do you account for those.
I could promise $10,000 over the next 12 months.
I will add $50 for seti.usa
I will evaluate all bids and promises.......promises get lower priority, of course.......
I still have my head spinning with my Pontiac Lemans dream........
Crap, that was a lotta horsepower.........
And then there was the '69 Buick Grand Sport......
Far faster, and deadlier.......400 cube motor, but put out more than 500 hp at the hubs..........verified........
Jumpin' Jiminy Christmas.........had a rock crusher tranny with a Hurst shifter......I sure do miss those cars.........
Won a lotta bets saying I could not do 0 to 60 in 16 secs or less without using the clutch..........no problem, biatch.......got it covered......
Start the sucker in first gear, and the rest was just candy....
That Hurst shifter just melted from one gear to the next if ya hit the shift points right........
And I once DID outrun the cops with that rig.......140mph with the foot thru the floor.........
7000 rpm on a big block....god must have been on my side........
And I DID toast a lotta 455 big blocks.......
Pity......they had a lotta torque.......nice feeling from the bottom....
But they just could not take my abuse........
They were notorious for blowing the number 8 rod.....not enough oil pressure under high rpms..........I lost about 6 of them......but they were a good party 'till they crashed.........mucho torque........

If you bid 10k over 12 months, I will hold you to it.....
And I can find you anywhere if you fail to deliver...LOL.
As to the time frame.......
I will stay with the highest bidding team for at least 12 months....a year.
Maybe more, if they are nice.....
How are you going to account to future donations.
The offer of 10K was real enough, but is also predicated on how much time you will dedicate to the winning team. 12 months may not be enough.
Example, if the winning bidder is $250.00 will you be there 12 months? If the winning bidder is $20,000 will you contribute 24 months? or is it just a flat 12 months no matter what the amount. Once I get answers to these questions then you will see my real - non-revocable bid.
Lets up this auction a level, I am good an up-selling :)
And I was told that you were not a whore :) Awesome idea by the way!
*** EDIT *** one other question - Assuming that your farm would crunch SETI only during the time frame... What happens if SETI for some reason shuts down and we still have time on the clock. And by shuts down, I mean, gone, kaput, no more, lock the doors and turn the lights off. You would still be a bought and paid for crunching machine....

Actually the Suzuki I was referring to is/was a Motorcycle and in a few cases this type of bike wound up as a full out drag bike, Although the one I owned I'd outfitted to look and act more like a racer, Carving a few corners and blasting more than a few straights too, Today I wouldn't ride It out here as It's too windy, But back in and around San Gabriel nearer to sea level was a different matter. Enough of that though, We had fun and that's all that matters. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's

I think that Mark should have to be loyal to the winning team...
for... lets say.... 12 months, 4 days & 18 hours at LEAST....
and that he maintain a RAC above 3,141.59....
(who said numbers have to be rounded...)

Yea, a old buddy of mine used to have the GS Stage1, only mod from factory was the NOX, kept a really low profile. Replaced the GS markings with Skylark, a real sleeper. Made a ton of money street racing, had the knack for the hustle. What a ride!!!

On the US Navy team, as many other Government teams, we prefer in the open those who are connected to the Naval Services. Since the cause of the SETI project life is at stake I would like to offer $500.00 to the SETI cause a bid for your farm's RAC for one year to the US Navy Team. Not knowing the legal language I would take your word as a gentlemen that if I am successful in this bid that your output for the SETI cause from your farm would be given to the US Navy team. This of course would be in addition to what I usually give to the SETI project. http://boinc.mundayweb.com/teamStats.php?userID=14824

Thinking about this
If you stated that you would provide over a period of time such as a monthly payment, UCB has the capability to handle that. It does require paperwork and then a verification from say Eric that the paperwork was received and handled.
Team commitments, That gets a bit tougher in that a team member could pledge a check to be delivered to a common sender. A team member could be authorized to be the spokes person for the team. It would also be up to that person to forward the checks to Seti (in a single envelope), then a verification could be identified. So in the case of a team bid, there could be a delay (waiting for snail mail).
If a single Seti Member wanted to get into the biding, there is the "weak" authenicator that could be used to detach and reattach using that weak authenticator that would allow credits to go to the user. It would not provide access to the primary account. Just add credits.
So not a big deal. It will require a bit of coordination.
Edit:
The original Auction was stated or a single month.
So in this case if it was stated the original $10K was for twelve months then that is a holding gentlemans agreement. If you want to bid more for a longer period then restate the bid.

I can provide a personal check or a credit card donation to the SETI project for the services of msatter farm to donate his RAC for one year to the US Navy Team for stated amount. I have no problem with SETI shutting down right now as far as this matter goes, just the good intention of said msatter to provide to the US Navy team the RAC of his farm. He is a gentleman and will provide the services as requested as he came up with a very good idea, one way of many, to keep this project going. In addition he has many years left to continue to offer many ideas to this project.

Thinking about this
The original Auction was stated or a single month.
I see no where before my post of any time frame mentioned.
The "offer" was "could" not "will" over 12 months not - 10K for 12 months.
If a bid is in place, then the rules must be understood before a bid is placed.
Maybe the correct thing to do is to have some rules. other than just -
Ok....the kitties have decided to put the farm up for auction........
I will join the team that puts up the highest hard cash donation to Seti......verified.
I'll start the bidding at $100.00 US........
It was not until I started making things difficult did we get some parameters -
If I were to go and use the first post that Mark made as an offer, then it would be interpereted as - the highest bidder - no matter the amount would get his entire farm to crunch for SETI for life.
So - Mark, we need more rules for the bidding - you are the one doing the auction, it is your rules. Set them, and then lets get bidding - for real.
