I don't think it would be practical to fly/drive a jet carplane because takeoff and landing speeds would be so high and so much straight unobstructed road would be needed, free of traffic. With propeller carplanes things would much more practical but then airspeed is more limited. In any event if everybody had carplanes there would be many times the present number of deaths because of the great number of in-air collisions. Maybe a better answer would be a computerized magnetically levitated superhighway that would drive the car automatically at high speed, right behind a big line of other cars to reduce aerodynamic drag. |

Tha bad thing about a train is you don't have wheels when you get to your destination. There is (or was) something called "Auto-Train" which did ferry cars, but still there is the track, added weight and expense. |
